NEW DELHI: Mahindra's public warranty table lists the All New Thar at 3 years and 1,00,000 km. For a Thar OG owner preparing a claim, the October 2026 owner manual adds an essential instruction: preserve the maintenance history and use the vehicle's Warranty Information & Maintenance Guide for the full terms. The headline period alone cannot establish whether a particular repair qualifies.
| Document or record | What it establishes |
|---|---|

| Vehicle warranty guide | Applicable terms and provisions |
| Service coupon booklet | Maintenance certification, dates and mileage |
| Complaint note | Symptoms and work requested |
Start with the correct Thar documents
Mahindra identifies the Thar OG as the successor to the three-door Thar introduced in 2020. Its announcement describes the M_Glyde 4G platform, rear PENTALINK suspension with a Watt's linkage and electric power steering. Those changes make the exact model and document edition relevant when discussing a concern.
Do not build a claim around a generic description copied from another Thar owner's invoice. Record the engine, transmission and variant shown on your own paperwork. A workshop needs to identify the actual vehicle before it can assess a symptom or a part.
Separate the complaint from your diagnosis
The manual asks owners to prepare a written problem list, disclose accidents or work missing from the maintenance log, and discuss possible additional charges. It also asks for maintenance entries to carry the service date and mileage. These are practical instructions for making the visit easier to assess.
Our suggested approach is to describe what you observed: when a noise happens, whether it began after a particular journey, and whether it changes with speed or steering movement. Keep guesses about the cause separate. A clear observation gives the technician something to investigate without presenting an untested theory as a fact.
Preserve the original job card and the closing invoice together. If the concern returns, those records let you explain what was reported and what work was recorded. A folder arranged by visit is easier to use than an unsorted collection of phone photographs.
If several drivers use the Thar OG, ask each for a short account while the details are fresh. Combining their observations is useful; rewriting them into a single confident diagnosis can erase differences that would help the workshop.
Why the maintenance wording matters
The Thar OG manual says missed scheduled maintenance can invalidate coverage for parts affected by that omission. It also excludes damage or failures caused by neglect or inadequate maintenance. That wording makes the relationship between the missed work and the affected component important.
If a claim is declined, a useful written question is which condition is being applied and how it relates to the diagnosed failure. This is our record-keeping recommendation, not a separate repair entitlement promised by Mahindra. Preserve the explanation alongside the diagnosis rather than relying on a remembered conversation.
Mahindra's public care page frames its warranty around defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance. It also directs owners towards the model's maintenance schedule. A maintenance appointment and a warranty assessment therefore serve different purposes, even when the workshop handles them during the same visit.
Use the model detail when describing the fault
The Thar OG announcement distinguishes electronic locking differential and terrain modes on equipped four-wheel-drive versions from terrain assistance on specified rear-wheel-drive versions. For an owner reporting a driveline concern, noting the selected mode is more informative than simply saying the car was being driven off road.
When seeking further assistance, the manual identifies the service manager as the initial contact, followed by the centre's general manager or owner, then Mahindra customer care if unresolved. Keep the VIN, delivery date, mileage and service-centre details ready.
