Mahindra Thar OG deliveries begin 11 October, introductory prices valid till 30 November

MUMBAI: Deliveries of the Mahindra Thar OG begin on 11 October, and the introductory prices announced at launch hold only for deliveries made until 30 November 2026. That window, stated in the company's launch release of 22 September, is what buyers still queuing at dealerships need to watch.
The three-door SUV starts at Rs 10.32 lakh ex-showroom for the AXT trim with the D117 CRDe diesel and a manual gearbox. All prices in the release are ex-showroom and introductory, so on-road costs will be higher and the figures can change after the validity period.
The Thar OG succeeds the three-door Thar unveiled in 2020. Mahindra calls it a reimagining of the lifestyle SUV and keeps the boxy shape, but changes the grille, bumpers, lamps, wheels and cabin trim.
The price list
With the same D117 diesel and manual gearbox, the LXT costs Rs 12.99 lakh and the ZXT Rs 13.99 lakh. The D22 mHawk diesel starts at Rs 16.49 lakh in LXT form with an automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Its four-wheel-drive automatic costs Rs 18.00 lakh in LXT and Rs 18.99 lakh in ZXT, the highest figure on the list.
The G20 TGDi mStallion petrol starts at Rs 14.77 lakh for the rear-wheel-drive automatic LXT. The four-wheel-drive manual is Rs 15.60 lakh in LXT and Rs 16.60 lakh in ZXT, while the petrol four-wheel-drive automatic is Rs 17.23 lakh and Rs 17.75 lakh in the same two trims.
Engines, platform and hardware
Mahindra lists 119 kW and 330 Nm for the petrol, 111.9 kW and 330 Nm for the D22 diesel, and 87.2 kW and 300 Nm for the D117 diesel, whose output is unchanged. The SUV sits on the M_Glyde 4G platform with a rear PENTALINK suspension that uses a Watts Link, Frequency Dependent Damping and electric power steering.
Four-wheel-drive versions get an electronic locking differential and Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes. Mahindra also lists new R19 alloys, LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps with cornering function and two new colours, Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, besides six existing ones.
Inside, the release lists Truffle Brown leatherette seats in the higher trims, a soft second-row armrest with a cupholder and a 26.03 cm touchscreen in the mid trim. Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer for the Auto and Farm Sectors, said the aim was to "preserve its authentic, boxy attitude" while updating the details.
Check the safety equipment by trim
The highlights mention six airbags, all four disc brakes, ESP 9.3 and front parking sensors. The feature annexure, however, lists dual airbags among the AXT items, and the four extra Head Pelvis Thorax Shoulder airbags that make up six appear lower down, among the items added in the higher trims. Entry-level buyers should confirm the airbag count and brake setup for the exact variant before booking. The base trim is also listed with front disc and rear drum brakes.
Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, said the Thar has more than 4 lakh customers and that the OG adds "the best ride quality, handling, stability and driving confidence ever offered in a Thar." Those are the company's claims, not independent test results.
Deliveries start in about a week, so dealers will be allocating vehicles in the order bookings were placed. Ask for the allocation date and the invoice date in writing, since the price validity runs to deliveries and not to bookings.
