A model name is not enough to identify the campaign
The important task for an owner is to match the vehicle with the right notice. Maruti's public customer-information page contains more than one fuel-system campaign involving these hatchbacks. Searching only for a Baleno or WagonR recall can therefore produce a valid official notice that still describes a different group of vehicles.
The figures above refer to the smaller fuel-pump-motor campaign. They are campaign populations, not a statement that the same number of cars remain unrepaired today. The public notice does not provide a completion count, an outstanding-work total or the service history of any particular chassis.
Maruti says authorised dealer workshops will reach affected owners. Its page also offers a vehicle-check facility. Someone reviewing an older vehicle's documents should ask whether this named fuel-pump-motor action applies, whether it was previously completed, and which record confirms the answer.
Why the older fuel-pump notice creates confusion
A separate entry covers 1,34,885 WagonR and Baleno vehicles. For that campaign, the listed build windows are 15 November 2018 to 15 October 2019 for WagonR 1.0-litre cars and 8 January 2019 to 4 November 2019 for petrol Balenos. It names a possible fuel-pump issue and a free replacement of faulty parts.
Those periods overlap the smaller campaign's dates. That overlap does not show that the populations can be added together as a count of unique cars. Nor does it establish that completion of work under one entry settles every other action. A vehicle record is needed to resolve the status of a specific car.
WagonR's model history makes the detail particularly relevant. Maruti's January 2019 launch page describes the third-generation hatchback with both 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engine choices, along with AGS technology. A memory that a car belongs to the new-shape WagonR range therefore does not identify its engine or its applicable campaign.
Give the workshop a precise question
Have the chassis identifier, manufacturing information and earlier repair invoices ready. The NEXA customer-information page explains that the identifier can be found around the dashboard and windscreen, on the driver's door frame or stamped in the engine bay. Use the vehicle documents to cross-check it before making an eligibility enquiry.
A useful request is for written confirmation of whether the fuel-pump-motor campaign is outstanding against that chassis. If a pump has already been replaced, present the earlier invoice so the workshop can distinguish campaign work from an unrelated repair. The part description alone does not establish why an earlier replacement was carried out.
Similarly, a starting complaint should be reported as a symptom rather than treated as a confirmed recall diagnosis. The manufacturer describes a possible effect of the suspected defect. It does not say every starting problem in a Baleno or WagonR has that cause.
What this notice does and does not promise
The public text does not publish a repair duration or a deadline for parts availability. Confirm the appointment arrangements with the authorised workshop, and keep campaign work separate from optional servicing on the job card. After attention, retain the completion record with the car's service documents.
