NEW DELHI: A Baleno retailed on or after 9 July 2024 falls under Maruti Suzuki's standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. NEXA also lists paid extended cover up to six years or 1,60,000 km. For an owner reporting a fault, the first checks are the retail date, odometer reading and cause of the problem.

| Standard cover for eligible cars | 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first |

| Nature of standard cover | Manufacturing defects, subject to warranty terms |
Start with the car's own record
Use the Baleno's retail invoice and service booklet to establish which warranty applies. A model name or registration year alone is an incomplete guide, particularly when a car was manufactured, invoiced and registered at different times. Keep the original warranty record alongside subsequent repair invoices so the workshop can trace the history of the complaint.
The time and distance limits operate together. An owner cannot treat the kilometre allowance as extra cover after the time limit has passed, or assume low mileage suspends the calendar. The expiry point is whichever threshold the car reaches first. That distinction matters for both lightly used family hatchbacks and cars covering long daily commutes.
Describe the fault before discussing the bill
Maruti's warranty FAQ describes cover for defects in material or workmanship under normal use and service. Qualifying repairs carry no charge for parts or labour. This makes the diagnosis central: a component failing because of a manufacturing defect is a different case from a part wearing out through use.
For a Baleno owner, write down the symptom in ordinary language: whether the air conditioning stops cooling, a warning appears intermittently, or a control fails only after the cabin warms up. Record when it happens and retain the job card. These are practical documentation steps, rather than a promise that a particular repair will be approved.
The current Baleno page lists equipment including an automatic climate control system, an actively cooled wireless charging dock and available front ventilated seats. Equipment depends on the version. A complaint should identify the actual fitted system, rather than assuming every Baleno has every item illustrated on the website. The distinction is especially useful when describing an electrical concern.
Wear, damage and paid extensions
The standard warranty FAQ excludes ordinary wear items such as filters, bulbs, tyres and brake pads. It also lists accident damage, misuse, unauthorised modifications, adulterated fuel, non-approved parts and missing prescribed servicing among exclusions. An owner should keep the workshop's explanation of the cause with the estimate, especially if the proposed work is being treated as a paid repair.
NEXA's extended-warranty page requires the car to be younger than three years and below 1,00,000 km when purchasing the extension. Its advertised maximum is an overall cover limit, rather than six additional years beginning when the standard warranty ends. Check the certificate issued for the individual car before treating a package name as proof of coverage.
There is a further Baleno-specific distinction to preserve in the paperwork. NEXA offers the hatchback with S-CNG technology as well as petrol configurations. Keep the exact fuel and transmission description on the job card and warranty certificate. A general list of high-value components across the NEXA range does not establish that every listed part is fitted to this hatchback.
Keep the ownership questions separate
Maruti's standard-warranty FAQ says remaining cover can pass to the next owner if the vehicle remains in India. That makes the service and warranty records useful when ownership changes. It does not create a fresh warranty period. Preserve the expiry details with the handover documents so the next owner can see what remains.
