NEW DELHI: Hyundai's current warranty policy lists the Alcazar with three years of basic cover and unlimited kilometres. The term starts when the new vehicle is delivered to its first purchaser. The mileage wording does not make the cover open-ended in time, and Hyundai's separate extended warranty options introduce their own kilometre limits.
| Cover | Published term relevant to Alcazar |
|---|---|
| Basic vehicle warranty | 3 years, unlimited kilometres |
| Fourth-year extension option | Fourth year or up to 80,000 km from new, whichever first |
| Fourth and fifth-year option | Up to 1,00,000 km from new, whichever first |
| Alternative fourth and fifth-year option | Up to 1,40,000 km from new, whichever first |
The basic term and the repair decision
The basic policy covers defects in material or workmanship accepted by Hyundai, with an authorised dealer repairing or replacing the relevant genuine part without charging the owner for that accepted repair's parts or labour. It does not promise free replacement of every item that deteriorates while the vehicle is within the warranty period.
Hyundai excludes ordinary wear items, including brake pads, clutch facings, filters and wiper blades. It also lists maintenance-related neglect, accident damage, flooding and unauthorised modifications among its exclusions. The cause of the complaint therefore matters alongside the delivery date. Being within three years is one part of the assessment.
The policy requires maintenance in accordance with the owner's manual and service booklet at an authorised workshop, with records retained. It also identifies heavy city traffic in hot weather and repeated short journeys as examples of severe operating conditions that can require more frequent attention under the manual.
What changes when the basic cover ends
Hyundai's comprehensive extension document includes Alcazar petrol and diesel models among the eligible vehicles for the options in the table. The distance limits run from delivery of the new vehicle. They are not fresh allowances that begin when the extension starts, a distinction that matters when reading the word additional in a package description.
The document says a fourth-year extension lapses if the vehicle has already exceeded 80,000 km in the initial three years. The corresponding fifth-year options also have their own cumulative thresholds. That makes the odometer at the end of basic cover relevant even though the Alcazar's basic warranty itself is described as unlimited kilometres.
Hyundai's extension webpage says cover continues from expiry of the original term, can pass to a subsequent owner for its remaining period, and cannot be moved to another vehicle. It also says there is no surrender value or refund of the premium. The certificate identifies the vehicle and the applicable contract.
Why Alcazar owners should record the exact variant
Alcazar is a useful case for this distinction because its range spans six- and seven-seat layouts, a 1.5 litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel. Hyundai also lists manual, automatic and dual-clutch transmission choices. A service record should identify the actual vehicle rather than relying on the model name alone.
Its cabin equipment includes powered front seats, a passenger seat walk-in function, seatback tables and digital-key capability, depending on specification. A complaint about access to the rear seats can concern a different mechanism from a complaint about seat adjustment. Naming the specific function helps distinguish the symptom from the eventual diagnosis.
For example, an owner can describe which seat moved, which control was used and whether the problem repeats, without guessing whether a motor, switch or adjustment mechanism has failed. That description is more useful on a job card than a general statement that the second row is broken. It also preserves what the workshop was asked to inspect.

Keep the certificate with the vehicle records
A delivery invoice, service history and any extension certificate answer different questions about the same Alcazar. Together they establish when ownership began, what maintenance was recorded and which additional cover was actually purchased. Neither a brochure's longest advertised term nor the unlimited-kilometre phrase replaces those vehicle-specific documents.
