NEW DELHI: Nissan Gravite owners considering the approved CNG retrofitment should check the kit supplier's warranty separately from the car's cover. Nissan's announcement specifies three years or 1,00,000 km for kit components through a third-party provider. Its linked terms restrict that warranty to private registration and require authorised installation and servicing.

Start with the kit paperwork

Nissan's Gravite CNG announcement describes a retrofitment developed and quality assured by Motozen, ordered through authorised Nissan dealers. That distinction matters when an owner reports a fault. The installation invoice, supplier booklet and vehicle warranty record identify the equipment involved and the organisation responsible for assessing it.

The practical approach is to keep those documents together before the first service. A dashboard warning, an installation concern and a petrol-engine complaint may need different checks. The public announcement does not provide a complete component-by-component claims list, so the supplier's booklet is the document to read for the precise scope.

Check registration and installation conditions

The terms linked from the current Gravite product page say a certified converter installs the kit. They also say unauthorised installation, tampering or operation contrary to the guidelines voids the kit warranty. Commercial registration is expressly outside the stated warranty eligibility.

For a household that later changes how the MPV is used, registration therefore deserves attention alongside the installation date. The terms also place responsibility on the customer to tell a subsequent buyer about the conditions. Keep a copy with the vehicle's records so that the kit's history does not disappear when the car changes hands.

Nissan says a CNG compliance certificate and RTO form are provided after installation. Check that the paperwork identifies the vehicle and installed equipment correctly. These records serve a different purpose from a sales brochure: they connect the conversion to the particular Gravite being driven.

Keep the maintenance trail readable

According to the linked terms, servicing must be carried out at authorised service centres and failure to follow the prescribed schedule may void warranty. The same page directs owners to the CNG kit owner's manual for maintenance details. It also specifies cylinder hydro-testing every three years and prohibits refuelling at unlicensed or unauthorised stations.

A useful service record describes the symptom, the work performed and the equipment checked. If a complaint returns, that record lets the next technician see what has already been inspected. Owners should preserve the actual job cards rather than relying only on a payment receipt or an informal description of the visit.

The family-space question is specific to Gravite

The conversion uses a twin-cylinder arrangement intended to preserve the Gravite's seven-seat function. The petrol MPV has a flexible second row and a removable, split-folding third row. For a family that alternates between carrying relatives and carrying luggage, the relevant inspection is the installed seating and loading arrangement, with the kit in place.

That is a more useful check than assuming that every CNG conversion affects a cabin in the same way. Try the seats and the loading opening in the configuration the household actually uses. Nissan's promise of retained seating does not, by itself, describe the shape of every bag that can be accommodated.

The product page contains inconsistent CNG mileage statements, so no running-cost or payback estimate is made here. The published terms themselves say mileage depends on use and is not guaranteed. That leaves installation quality, documentation and the supplier's component cover as the verifiable ownership questions.
