NEW DELHI: Nissan's detailed Magnite extended-warranty terms allow cover up to 10 years or 2,00,000 km, but protection in years eight, nine and ten is limited to the engine and transmission. That boundary matters more than the headline duration when an owner is checking whether a particular repair falls within the plan.

Read the certificate alongside the headline

Nissan's current model page describes a standard ten-year or 2,00,000 km warranty. Its detailed warranty page still shows an initial three-year or 1,00,000 km period for the New Magnite, followed by extension options. The programme's original announcement describes a paid extension. These pages do not use consistent language about how the longest cover is supplied.

Owners should therefore establish what their own invoice and warranty certificate include. The website wording does not settle whether a particular car has an extension bundled into its transaction. The consistent point in the detailed terms is the narrower component coverage in the final years. This report does not treat every Magnite as automatically enrolled in the same package.

Identify which Magnite the paperwork covers

The programme announcement links eligibility to the New Magnite introduced in October 2024. It excludes the earlier version sold with a two-year standard warranty. The shared model name is consequently not enough to establish eligibility: the vehicle's original warranty record is central to the check.

Under the published enrolment terms, an eligible privately owned New Magnite must still be within its standard warranty. The announcement also specifies customers who have not already selected an extended plan, with enrolment through authorised dealers. Existing owners should check their actual plan status before assuming that an advertisement describes an upgrade available to them.

For a household keeping a Magnite well beyond the initial ownership period, the practical distinction is between a long calendar duration and a long list of covered components. A later electrical fault should not be assumed eligible merely because the car remains within the advertised maximum age. The component and the relevant stage of cover have to match.

Keep a usable record of the problem

Nissan says an authorised dealership must inspect a concern before confirming warranty coverage. Its FAQ links eligible new-vehicle repairs to defects in factory materials or workmanship. Routine maintenance and normal wear are generally excluded, while damage caused by inadequate maintenance is not covered.

A useful claim file brings together the warranty certificate, service invoices and a clear description of the symptom. Record when the problem appeared and what the workshop diagnosed. Keeping the complaint and the proposed repair together makes it easier to distinguish the fault being assessed from unrelated maintenance added to the same visit.

The company requires authorised servicing at the recommended intervals. Its FAQ also says a failure connected to a non-genuine component can fall outside cover, and that extended warranty can transfer with the vehicle. A subsequent owner should obtain the actual documents, rather than relying on an earlier owner's description of the package.

Roadside assistance has its own clock

Nissan's assistance page assigns three years of roadside assistance to the New Magnite, regardless of distance travelled. It describes support across India, available around the clock and in major regional languages. An extended repair warranty should not be read as an automatic extension of that separate assistance period.

That separation matters during a breakdown: arranging help and deciding who pays for a diagnosed defect are different tasks. Keep the assistance details with the vehicle records, but also check the expiry of the repair cover. Neither document should be replaced by a screenshot of a promotional headline.
