NEW DELHI: Mahindra's Bolero MaXX Pik-Up HD brochure assigns the 2,000 kg payload to the HD 2.0L. The HD 1.7L and HD 1.7 are listed at 1,700 kg, while the HD 1.3 entry is 1,250 kg. For an operator checking a quotation, the full model code matters more than a general promise of a two-tonne pickup.

HD 1.71,700 kg3,460 kg

The badge is not a substitute for the payload row

The HD 1.3 is the entry that deserves particular care. Its model name can tempt a reader to assume a rounded load figure, but the brochure's payload row explicitly says 1,250 kg. When a specification table gives an exact value, use that entry rather than deriving a capacity from the badge.

For each quotation, copy the model designation, rated payload and gross vehicle weight into separate fields. Gross vehicle weight is not an alternative cargo allowance. The HD 2.0L's 3,895 kg figure should never be read as the weight of goods it can carry.

This matters when a business books loads before the vehicle arrives. A dispatcher seeing only Bolero MaXX HD on an order sheet may assume the fleet's highest capacity applies to every truck. Recording HD 2.0L, HD 1.7L, HD 1.7 or HD 1.3 alongside the registration number makes the distinction visible during everyday allocation.

Equal payload does not make the two 1.7 models identical

The HD 1.7L and HD 1.7 share the brochure's 1,700 kg payload figure, yet their listed gross vehicle weights differ. Treat them as separate entries when checking the body configuration. The extra letter in the model name should not disappear between the quotation, order confirmation and invoice.

Mahindra's launch documentation describes different cargo-length options within the HD family. The practical check is to obtain the load-body dimensions for the exact vehicle being supplied and compare them with the consignments it will carry. An identical weight rating does not tell a furniture distributor whether a particular packaged item fits.

A produce transporter faces a different question: how the normal crate arrangement fits the selected body while remaining inside the rated load. These are reasons to use both a measured cargo plan and a weight record. Neither a long body nor spare space in it is permission to exceed the payload.

Read the equipment suffix as a separate choice

The brochure also contains an equipment matrix headed LX, MXi, SXi and VXi. Its air-conditioning and heater row marks LX and MXi as unavailable, and SXi and VXi as available. The iMAXX row marks LX as unavailable and the other listed equipment levels as available.

That matrix is not a promise that every equipment level can be combined with every HD model. The brochure gives model availability separately and warns that features are not present on all versions. Ask for the exact model and equipment combination in writing rather than treating a photograph of an equipped cabin as the specification of the quoted truck.

The same caution applies to seating. The brochure gives D+2 but carries a D+1 qualification for the manual-steering variant. An operator planning to carry a helper should check the seating entry on the supplied vehicle's documents and the actual cabin configuration.

Put connected features to work at handover

Mahindra describes vehicle tracking, route planning, geofencing and vehicle-health monitoring in the HD brochure. For a version equipped with iMAXX, ask the dealer to demonstrate the relevant functions and establish who will administer access for the business. A feature name on paper is less useful if the person arranging deliveries cannot use it.

For wider context, our report on commercial vehicle retail trends covers the market these pickups operate in. Businesses serving the capital should also read the separate goods-vehicle entry explainer; a payload specification alone does not settle access conditions.

Before signing the final paperwork, reconcile the model code, body dimensions, load rating and equipment list. If the truck is financed, keep the lender's terms distinct from the vehicle specification, as explained in our vehicle-loan documentation guide. The final order should identify the truck clearly enough for the driver, dispatcher and workshop to refer to the same specification.
