NEW DELHI: The Maruti Suzuki Fronx costs Rs 75,000 to Rs 91,000 more than the Baleno on matching 1.2-litre trims, ex-showroom Delhi, according to the active-variant price lists on Maruti's Nexa website. The Baleno starts at Rs 5,98,900 and the Fronx at Rs 6,89,900. Price as of 25 October 2026, 12:30 AM IST.

The two are close relatives. Both are sold at Nexa, both use the same trim names, and the Baleno's 1197 cc engine also powers the lower Fronx versions. From the Delta Plus DiTC upwards, though, the Fronx switches to a 998 cc engine, and that is where the price gap jumps.

Baleno vs Fronx price, trim by trim

The table matches each Fronx version with the Baleno of the same trim and gearbox. Prices are ex-showroom Delhi with single-tone paint.

Alpha manualRs 9,09,900Rs 10,60,900Rs 1,51,000

On the 1.2-litre trims, the crossover body adds Rs 75,000 at Delta level, both for the manual and the AGS. The Sigma gap is wider at Rs 91,000, and the Delta CNG gap is Rs 81,500.

At Zeta and Alpha, the Fronx gap climbs to Rs 1,76,000 and Rs 1,51,000. Those Fronx trims use the 998 cc engine, while every Baleno uses the 1197 cc unit, so these two rows compare different engines rather than just different bodies.

The Fronx also has trims with no Baleno twin. The Delta Plus 1.2-litre manual costs Rs 8,14,500, and the Delta Plus DiTC, the cheapest way into the 998 cc engine, costs Rs 8,96,900. That is Rs 82,400 more than the 1.2-litre Delta Plus for the same trim name.

Automatic and CNG choices differ

The Baleno has the wider spread of two-pedal options. It offers the AGS on the Delta, Zeta, Alpha and Alpha (O), from Rs 7,49,900 to Rs 9,99,000, and pairs CNG with AGS on the Delta and Zeta. Its Delta CNG + AGS costs Rs 8,32,400.

The Fronx sells the AGS only on the Delta and Delta Plus, at Rs 8,24,900 and Rs 8,64,500. Above that it uses a six-speed automatic with the 998 cc engine, on the Zeta AT at Rs 11,03,900 and the Alpha AT at Rs 11,88,900. Its CNG versions, the Sigma and Delta, are manual only.

Claimed efficiency and the top versions

Maruti claims 23.80 km/l for the Baleno manual and 24.77 km/l for its AGS, against 21.79 km/l and 22.89 km/l for the 1.2-litre Fronx. On CNG, the Baleno Delta CNG claims 33.61 km/kg and the Fronx 28.51 km/kg. The 998 cc Fronx manual claims 21.5 km/l and its six-speed automatic 20.01 km/l.

The dearest Baleno is the Alpha (O) AGS at Rs 9,99,000, under Rs 10 lakh. The dearest Fronx is the Alpha AT at Rs 11,88,900, or Rs 12,02,900 with dual-tone paint. Our Baleno price list notes which Baleno trims get ADAS.

Paint is another small difference. Maruti charges Rs 14,000 extra for dual-tone paint on the Fronx Alpha manual and automatic, while the Baleno price list shows no dual-tone option at any trim. Every other Fronx and Baleno version is priced for single-tone paint only.

What the gap means

If you like the Fronx's crossover styling but want to keep the bill close to a Baleno, the 1.2-litre Delta trims are where the two are nearest in price. With the 998 cc engine, the gap against the Baleno of the same trim is about Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.76 lakh.

Registration, road tax and insurance are extra, and the amounts vary from state to state, so ask for a written on-road quote. Our Fronx price list lists every Fronx version, and our Brezza prices shows the next step up in Maruti's compact SUV range.
