How the BaaS price works

BaaS separates the battery from the car. You pay the lower BaaS price for the vehicle and then a battery charge linked to use, which Mahindra puts at Rs 3.75 per km. Its disclaimer says the figures assume a battery EMI starting at Rs 6,975, about 60 km of driving a day and a specific down payment.

Mahindra also says BaaS is a finance product offered by partner lenders, not a pay-per-use scheme, and that approval is up to the financier. The BaaS prices exclude the charger, road tax, insurance and TCS. Our report on how battery rental prices compare across brands explains the trade-off in more detail.

Charging and what to ask the dealer

Mahindra says the BE 6 can add up to 300 km of range in 20 minutes on a fast DC charger. Home charging is where the Rs 75,000 charger option comes in, so check whether your parking spot can take a wall-mounted unit before choosing the no-charger price.

These are ex-showroom figures. Road tax on electric cars varies by state, and some states waive it, so the on-road gap between cities can be large. If you are looking at smaller Mahindra electric SUVs, our XUV 3XO EV prices lists every version.
