What the price gaps mean

The new 998 cc turbo engine is the cheapest way into a Brezza. The LXI Turbo at Rs 7,49,900 undercuts the 1.5-litre LXI by Rs 85,000. At the VXI level the turbo costs Rs 66,000 less than the 1.5-litre car, and at ZXI it costs Rs 60,000 less. The turbo is sold only with a manual gearbox, so buyers who want an automatic have to take the 1.5-litre petrol.

The automatic is priced Rs 1,30,000 above the matching manual at both VXI and ZXI. The cheapest automatic Brezza is the VXI AT at Rs 10,60,900, and the ZXI+ AT at Rs 13,54,900 before the dual-tone option is the top of the range.

CNG adds Rs 1,05,000 over the petrol LXI, Rs 68,100 over the petrol VXI and Rs 1,05,000 over the petrol ZXI. The VXI CNG is the best value of the three on paper, since its premium is about Rs 36,900 lower than at LXI and ZXI.

Engines, mileage and safety

Maruti's variant data lists 998 cc for the turbo and 1,462 cc for the other petrol and CNG versions. The listed fuel efficiency is 20.47 km/l for the LXI Turbo, 21.09 km/l for the 1.5-litre manual, 20.17 km/l for the automatic and 26.9 km/kg for the CNG. These are the figures on Maruti's page, and real-world mileage will be lower.

Every version in the list shows six airbags and five seats. That means even the Rs 7,49,900 LXI Turbo carries the same airbag count as the Rs 13,70,500 ZXI+ AT, which is useful for buyers who want the lowest price without giving up safety equipment.

The ZXI Turbo, ZXI, ZXI+ Turbo, ZXI CNG, ZXI AT and ZXI+ AT are the versions offered with a dual-tone roof. The option adds Rs 14,100 on the ZXI Turbo and Rs 15,600 on the ZXI+ AT.
