NEW DELHI: Renault Kiger starts at Rs 5,81,000, while Skoda Kylaq starts at Rs 7,59,000 on the manufacturers' Indian websites. These are entry prices for different engine propositions: Kiger offers a naturally aspirated petrol entry point, while Kylaq uses a turbocharged petrol engine throughout its range. Neither starting figure is an automatic gearbox quotation.

Price as of 2 November 2026, 00:16 IST. Both figures are advertised starting prices, not on-road totals. Registration, insurance and the exact engine and gearbox configuration must be separated from this initial comparison. No complete variant price schedule is being inferred from the headline figures.
The clearest way to read these figures is as two entry configurations. The comparison below keeps engine choice, transmission choice and trim equipment separate, because combining their best advertised details would describe a car that neither starting price actually identifies.
The engine difference starts at the bottom
Kylaq's entry Classic is explicitly listed as a manual. Skoda specifies a 1.0-litre TSI engine producing 85 kW, or 115 PS, and 178 Nm. Its manual has six forward speeds. That gives the entry car a clear mechanical identity even before equipment is considered.
Kiger's engine page distinguishes its 72 PS engine from the 100 PS turbo. Treating the lower Kiger entry price as the cost of its strongest engine would erase the most important qualification in this comparison. Someone researching motorway performance needs to move from the range headline to the relevant turbo configuration.
This is why the showroom comparison should begin with the powertrain written out beside each model name. A low starting price and a turbo specification elsewhere on the same website can easily become one remembered figure. Here they describe different points in Kiger's range, whereas Kylaq keeps its engine proposition consistent.
Automatic is a separate comparison
Skoda lists its six-speed torque-converter automatic from Classic+ upwards. Renault's model material offers three transmission choices across Kiger, with its engine page specifically describing a turbo CVT with D-Step tuning. An AMT and a CVT should not be treated as the same gearbox simply because neither needs routine clutch-pedal operation.
The practical question is therefore which exact automatic version is being discussed. The starting-price table cannot answer its transaction price. It also cannot establish how either car behaves in crawling traffic, on an incline or during an overtake. Those are driving assessments, and this comparison draws no road-test conclusion from the specification sheet.
Luggage figures need a family check
The manufacturers publish a 446-litre boot for Kylaq and 405 litres for Kiger. Renault also identifies 29 litres of internal storage and 222 mm of second-row knee space on its dedicated comfort page. These describe different aspects of cabin usefulness; none measures whether a particular child seat or suitcase will fit.
For an Indian household sharing the car between a commute and station or airport runs, the useful distinction is luggage shape and access. A pushchair, a rigid suitcase and soft overnight bags use the available area differently. Published capacity is a starting reference, while checking those actual items resolves a question that litres alone cannot.
Equipment also needs its own column. Renault places ventilated front seats and a multi-view camera under Emotion on its overview page. Skoda advertises features such as a sunroof and digital cluster on selected variants. The photographs and feature panels should not be read as an equipment promise for either entry version.
Keep the model pages beside the price
