NEW DELHI: The Mahindra Thar OG, the three-door Thar, costs between Rs 10,32,000 and Rs 18,99,000 ex-showroom across 15 versions, according to Mahindra's official price list. The entry AXT diesel with two-wheel drive and a manual gearbox is the cheapest, and the ZXT diesel with four-wheel drive and an automatic is the most expensive. Price as of 20 October 2026, 12:25 AM IST.

Every version is a four-seater. Mahindra sells three trims, AXT, LXT and ZXT, with petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic gearboxes, and a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive on most of them. The page notes that prices at the time of delivery will prevail, and insurance, registration and road tax are extra.

The automatic gearbox costs very different amounts depending on the version. On the two-wheel drive diesels, the automatic is Rs 3,50,000 dearer than the manual in both LXT and ZXT trims. On the four-wheel drive diesels, the gap is Rs 1,57,000 on the LXT and Rs 1,50,000 on the ZXT. Because the list does not show the engine for each version, ask the dealer to confirm what you get before you compare.

Mahindra's colour selector shows eight paint options: Artemis Silver, Jeans Blue, Tango Red, Galaxy Grey, Battleship Grey, Everest White, Stealth Black and Deep Forest. Check with the dealer which colours are offered on the version you want.

Engines and hardware

Mahindra lists three engines for the Thar OG. The 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol makes 119 kW and 330 Nm. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel makes 111.9 kW and 330 Nm. The 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel makes 87.2 kW and 300 Nm. The price list does not say which diesel each version uses, so check the specification sheet for the exact version you pick.

Mahindra says the Thar OG sits on a stiffer platform with Watt's Link suspension and DAVINCI damping, and it lists an electronic locking differential that makes both rear wheels turn at the same speed when one loses grip. The company also lists six airbags built into both rows of seats.

How the Thar OG compares within Mahindra

The five-door Thar Roxx starts at Rs 12,52,000, so the AXT diesel undercuts it by Rs 2,20,000. At the top end the Thar OG stops at Rs 18,99,000, well below the most expensive Roxx. Buyers who need rear doors should look at the Roxx, while those who want the shorter three-door body can save money with the OG.

When you visit a dealer, ask for a written on-road quote and check whether it is for the exact version, fuel, gearbox and drive type you want, since a single letter in the variant name can change the price by more than a lakh.
