NASHIK: The cheapest Mahindra Thar Roxx is the MX1 petrol manual at Rs 12,52,000 (ex-showroom), and the most expensive is the AX7L diesel automatic with four-wheel drive at Rs 23,52,500, according to Mahindra's official Thar Roxx price list. Price as of 19 October 2026, 12:40 AM IST. Every version is a five-seater, and Mahindra says prices at the time of delivery will prevail.

Mahindra lists 21 versions across seven trims: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, AX7L and the Star Edition. Versions with the Mocha interior are listed at the same price as the standard ones.

What an automatic gearbox adds

Going from manual to automatic on the same trim costs between Rs 1,26,000 and Rs 1,58,000. On the MX5, the petrol automatic is Rs 1,51,000 more than the manual, and the diesel automatic is Rs 1,58,000 more. On the MX3 diesel, the gap is Rs 1,55,000. The smallest step is on the AX7L diesel two-wheel drive, where the automatic costs Rs 1,26,000 more than the manual.

The Star Edition sits in the middle of the range. Its diesel manual, at Rs 17,97,000, costs Rs 90,000 more than the MX5 diesel manual and Rs 57,000 more than the AX3L diesel manual.

Engines and key features

The 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol makes 119 kW and 330 Nm with the manual, and 130 kW and 380 Nm with the automatic. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel is listed in two states of tune, 111.9 kW with 330 Nm and 128.6 kW with 370 Nm. Mahindra's page does not tie each tune to a variant, so confirm the output of your version with the dealer.

The official page lists a panoramic Skyroof measuring 1450 mm by 900 mm, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, twin 26.03 cm screens, Level 2 ADAS and more than 35 standard safety features. For off-road use, Mahindra lists Crawl Smart Assist, 4XPLOR terrain modes for water, snow and rocky surfaces, and Intelliturn, which it says helps with tight U-turns and tricky trails. Not every feature comes on every trim, so check the brochure for the version you want.

Which Roxx to pick

For city buyers who do not need four-wheel drive, the MX3 petrol automatic at Rs 15,39,000 is the cheapest Roxx with an automatic gearbox. The MX5 diesel 4WD manual is the entry point for anyone who plans to go off the road.

The three-door Thar is a different proposition, and we covered its Thar OG introductory prices earlier this month. Buyers comparing five-door SUVs at this price may also want to look at our Renault Duster hybrid variant prices. Either way, a test drive on a broken road will tell you more about the Roxx's ride than any spec sheet.
