Engines and what the money buys
There are two engines. The 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol makes 149.14 kW, with 370 Nm on manual versions and 380 Nm on automatics. The 2.2-litre Gen II mHawk diesel makes 128.6 kW, with 370 Nm on the manual and 400 Nm on the automatic. Mahindra also lists a lower diesel tune of 97 kW and 300 Nm, and does not say on the page which variants use it, so ask your dealer before you book a base diesel.
The feature list on the official page includes 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a panoramic Skyroof, Level 2 ADAS, Sony 3D sound, a 540-degree surround view camera and Mahindra's AdrenoX connected car system. These are listed for the range, and the lower trims do not get all of them. Check the brochure for the exact version you are buying.
Which version makes sense
For buyers who want an automatic on a budget, the Z4 petrol automatic at Rs 17,15,693 is the cheapest self-shifting Scorpio-N. Buyers who need four-wheel drive can choose between the Z4 diesel 4WD manual at Rs 18,02,499 and the Z8T and Z8L 4WD versions, which add more features at up to Rs 25,49,000.
The jump from the Z8T diesel automatic (Rs 22,35,146) to the Z8L diesel automatic seven-seater (Rs 23,58,999) is Rs 1,23,853. Within the same family, the Z8L six-seater diesel automatic costs Rs 40,500 more than the seven-seater.
