Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO ZNG on 15 October, adding a petrol-CNG option to its compact SUV range. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom. Test drives begin today; bookings and deliveries are scheduled to start on 20 October.
The launch announcement lists MX Edge at Rs 9.99 lakh, REVX Edge (O) at Rs 10.79 lakh, AX5 at Rs 11.19 lakh and REVX A at Rs 12.27 lakh. Price as of 15 October 2026, 4:27 PM IST; all figures are ex-showroom.
Bookings will be available through authorised dealerships and Mahindra’s website. Mahindra quotes certified fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg in CNG mode. The announced delivery start is a programme date, rather than confirmation of stock or a handover date for an individual order.
Powertrain and packaging
The current brochure specifies a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine and six-speed manual gearbox. Output is 82 kW at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm in either fuel mode. The specification sheet therefore lists matching petrol and CNG outputs, rather than a lower CNG figure. These are manufacturer specifications, not performance measurements from a Dalimss News road test.
Its petrol tank holds 42 litres, while the two CNG cylinders have a combined 60-litre water-equivalent capacity. That cylinder-volume figure is not a stated 60 kg gas fill. The SUV measures 3,990 mm long, 1,821 mm wide and 1,647 mm high with ski racks, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase. The listed turning radius is 5.3 metres. Standard tyres are 205/65 R16; the spare is 135/90 R16. Suspension combines front struts and a rear twist beam.
The brochure records 270 litres of luggage space under ISO V215 and disc brakes at all four wheels. The trim table also separates equipment: MX Edge gets a rear camera and cruise control, while AX5 adds dual-zone climate control and a digital instrument cluster. REVX A adds the panoramic Skyroof and Dolby Atmos to AX5’s equipment.
Mahindra says the vehicle automatically switches to petrol when CNG runs low. Its integrated gas-leak detector can also identify a leak and change fuel mode to petrol without input from the driver.
Safety equipment and the published crash-rating record
Mahindra’s ZNG product FAQ lists six airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and rear parking sensors. It also specifies three-point belts and reminders for all passengers. Those are equipment commitments for the vehicle, and should be read separately from the company’s statement that it is engineered for a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. The FAQ describes a 10-bar CNG injection system, intended to control fuel delivery across different driving loads.
The Bharat NCAP register identifies AX7L and MX2 as the tested XUV 3XO variants. It records 29.36 points out of 32 for adult protection and 43 out of 49 for child protection, with publication in 2024. Its applicability table, revised in October 2026, separates diesel and gasoline families. The opened table does not identify a CNG family or ZNG entry. October 2024 remains the original assessment month; September 2026 is given for the additional variants in the current applicability list.
That distinction matters when a familiar model name gains another powertrain. The register says its ratings apply to the variants in the applicability list. Its October additions include several REVX combinations, but those sit within the stated petrol and diesel columns. It does not by itself establish a separately published crash-test result for the new CNG version.
Warranty, colours and order details
For ownership support, the ZNG FAQ states a three-year standard warranty and three years of free roadside assistance. It describes towing, flat-tyre, key and fuel assistance, subject to applicable conditions, and says an add-on extended warranty is available. Coverage documents determine exclusions. The product description does not promise that every repair or call-out will be free.
The six listed colours are Jeans Blue, Tango Red, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Nebula Blue and Stealth Black. The FAQ also describes a 60:40 split rear seat, which allows part of the backrest to fold for larger luggage while retaining a rear seating position.
