NEW DELHI: The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has separate 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet and 1.2-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol branches on NEXA's official page, alongside S-CNG. The smaller engine designation belongs to the turbo branch. A trim name alone is therefore insufficient to identify the engine, particularly around Delta+.

Why Delta+ needs an engine label

Read across the table and Delta+ MT appears in both petrol-engine groups. That is the important naming trap. If a quotation, message or comparison sheet only says Delta+ manual, ask for the full engine description before treating it as a specific vehicle. A familiar badge can conceal a mechanical difference that matters more than a cosmetic feature.

Build your own comparison sheet with an engine column placed before the equipment column. Copy the complete official name into it, then add fuel and transmission. This is especially useful when several family members are collecting quotations independently: apparently matching trim names may otherwise be brought together as though they described identical cars.

Our Fronx price guide covers the price ladder. Use the engine identifier when consulting that guide, because the practical task here is matching the correct mechanical version to the correct row. Avoid drawing conclusions from a price difference until that match is clear.

Read engine size with the technology

NEXA identifies direct fuel injection in the Turbo Boosterjet description. It separately describes the 1.2-litre engine as Dual Jet, Dual VVT with idle start-stop. These labels identify different petrol packages; reading the litre figure in isolation does not provide a complete account of what is under the bonnet.

A useful demonstration should let you observe how the exact engine and transmission combination responds in the driving situations you encounter. Ask to experience ordinary acceleration, slowing for a junction and returning to traffic where conditions allow. Note your own impressions without turning a short demonstration into a claim about performance that has not been measured.

Keep the route and passenger load as comparable as practical when examining different versions. If the two drives take place under very different conditions, write that down. The aim is to understand how each car feels to its intended driver, rather than trying to infer a universal ranking from unrelated journeys.

Automatic is another column to verify

Maruti's original technical introduction pairs the turbo engine with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. It identifies a five-speed manual and five-speed AGS for the 1.2-litre engine. Those mechanical descriptions help decode the shorter MT, AMT and AT labels in the current list.

The official Fronx page describes both Auto Gear Shift and a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Its powertrain list uses AMT labels for the relevant 1.2-litre entries and AT labels for turbo entries. Retain those suffixes in your notes. Asking only for an automatic Fronx leaves an important part of the configuration unspecified.

Our Maruti automatic range guide supplies wider context. During the Fronx demonstration, learn the selector and available controls on the actual car. Familiarity gained in another automatic should not replace a clear explanation of the version you are considering.

Give S-CNG its own inspection

The S-CNG group names Sigma MT CNG and Delta MT CNG. Put these on a separate line in a household comparison, with room for filling convenience and an inspection of the luggage arrangement. A petrol-car demonstration cannot answer every practical question about the factory CNG vehicle, even when the cabin trim names sound familiar.

For readers comparing the crossover with the related hatchback choice, our Baleno and Fronx comparison offers additional context. Keep engine, fuel and transmission visible throughout the exercise. Finish by checking that the written quotation repeats the same complete description, rather than relying on a salesperson's shorthand for the trim.
