NEW DELHI: Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor buyers need to separate the 1.2-litre E, S and S+ grades from the 1.0-litre turbo G and V grades when reading the variant list. The automatic choices differ too: S and S+ use a 5-speed AMT, while G and V offer a 6-speed automatic. A higher letter is therefore more than an equipment change.

GradeEngine familyTransmission choices
E petrol1.2-litre5-speed manual
E CNG1.2-litre petrol/CNG5-speed manual
S, S+1.2-litre petrol5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT
G, V1.0-litre turbo petrol5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic

Read the engine and gearbox before the grade

The grade letters make the range look like a single ladder. Toyota's brochure instead divides it into different engine and transmission combinations. Write the fuel type and gearbox beside each grade on a shortlist. That prevents an automatic S+ from being treated as the same mechanical package as an automatic G with fewer features.

The distinction also changes what should happen at a demonstration. Someone comparing S+ AMT and G AT should request both combinations, rather than accept a drive in any automatic Taisor. The two brochure entries describe different transmissions as well as different engines. An experience in one cannot establish the behaviour of the other.

CNG belongs in a separate branch of this exercise. The brochure puts it under E with a manual gearbox. Do not combine the CNG fuel option from one column with automatic availability from another. Reading across the correct column is the essential step before discussing any additional equipment.

S+ adds equipment without moving to turbo power

Toyota's chart lists LED multi-reflector headlamps and painted alloy wheels on S+, while retaining the 1.2-litre engine family. This is the useful distinction for someone who wants those visible features but has been reading the plus sign as an indication of turbo power. The engine row, rather than the grade's punctuation, settles the question.

For a household sharing the car, make separate notes for the features that affect the driver and those that serve passengers. Check the seating position, controls and rear-seat arrangements in the actual demonstration vehicle. A longer equipment list is less useful if the person who regularly drives it has only tried another grade.

G and V need their own comparison

The brochure places rear AC vents and a wireless charger in G and V. It reserves the head-up display and 360-degree camera for V. Those differences give a G-versus-V inspection a clear purpose: establish which of those items matter in the household's actual use, then verify them on the intended car.

A buyer who wants parking-camera coverage should ask which camera system is fitted, rather than simply ask whether a camera exists. Demonstrate the view on the screen while the vehicle is stationary. This avoids treating a general feature label and a particular camera arrangement as interchangeable promises.

Likewise, keep gearbox-linked features attached to the correct transmission. Toyota marks paddle shifters as automatic-only in the turbo-grade columns. A brochure picture of the steering wheel should not be used to establish what a manual car includes. Have the written equipment description match the proposed gearbox.

Use the updated safety information

Toyota announced standard six-airbag fitment across the Taisor range on 12 August 2025. Its current linked brochure also shows that arrangement. Buyers referring to an older saved specification sheet should use the updated official material and verify the particular vehicle's equipment, especially when comparing it with an earlier car.

The practical result is a shortlist with complete identities, such as S+ AMT or G turbo AT, rather than letters alone. Keep that identity consistent through the demonstration, quotation and vehicle handover. This guide explains the range structure; it does not assign a universal best grade.
