NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki Tour H3 is listed at Rs 4,98,900 for petrol and Rs 5,88,900 for CNG on the manufacturer's commercial website. The range uses a five-speed manual gearbox. Its published specifications make fuel choice, stop-start operation and the commercial speed limiter the main points to understand before assigning the car to a passenger transport route.

A commercial specification with a petrol-only feature

The Tour H3 uses a 1.0-litre Next Gen K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine. Maruti specifically associates idle start-stop technology with the petrol variant. That qualification deserves attention: a feature mentioned alongside the model name should not automatically be carried across to every fuel version.

For an operator, this makes the handover demonstration more useful than a broad feature checklist. Have the petrol car's stop-start operation explained using its own controls and documentation. If considering CNG, base expectations on that version's equipment. Similar bodywork and a shared model name do not make the fuel systems identical.

Read the economy claims in the correct units

The manufacturer's petrol claim is expressed in kilometres per litre, while its CNG claim is in kilometres per kilogram. The larger CNG number alone does not establish the monetary saving. A running-cost comparison needs the price of each fuel in its own unit, together with a sensible estimate of consumption on the intended work.

For the Tour H3, a practical route sheet would record the regular journey, refuelling location and time spent reaching it. Put these alongside the fuel bill. A route that passes a suitable pump may present a different operating case from one that requires a separate detour, even if the vehicle specification is unchanged. This is a planning exercise, not a forecast of daily income.

It also helps to distinguish paid distance from the total distance the car travels. Fuel is used while repositioning the vehicle as well as while carrying a customer. Recording only the customer journey can distort an estimate of what the car costs to operate. Keep those categories visible when reviewing a shift.

The speed limiter affects scheduling

Maruti lists an 80 km/h speed-limiting function, six airbags, electronic stability control and three-point seat belts for all seats. The limiter is a particularly relevant specification for someone planning outstation work. A passenger schedule should be built around the vehicle's actual commercial configuration rather than a retail WagonR's perceived performance.

Safety equipment also needs to be understood on its own terms. An airbag count is not a crash rating, and electronic stability control is not a guarantee against loss of control. Ask for the vehicle's operating instructions during delivery and keep that information available to anyone who will drive it.

Who it is for

The petrol Tour H3 is relevant to an operator who wants to assess this manual commercial hatchback without building the service around CNG refuelling. The CNG version is a separate operating proposition for work with suitable fuel access. Neither description establishes which version will be cheaper over a particular ownership period without the operator's own usage figures.

The useful question is whether the specified car fits the job consistently. Try the passenger access, seating arrangement and luggage placement needed for the actual service. Check the exact version on the quotation and registration documents rather than relying on a verbal description of a WagonR-based taxi.
