BENGALURU: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has priced the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition at Rs 36,51,000 for the 4x2 manual and Rs 38,72,000 for the 4x2 automatic, both ex-showroom. Bookings open on 12 October through Toyota's website and dealerships, according to the company's 9 October announcement.
The automatic carries a Rs 2,21,000 premium. These are the announced prices, checked against Toyota's release: price as of 10 October 2026, 12:55 PM IST. Buyers should get a separate on-road quotation for their registration city.
What the edition changes
Toyota highlights ambient lighting in the updated cabin. The specification also includes black and maroon upholstery, illuminated scuff plates, auto-folding mirrors and tyre-pressure monitoring. Exterior details include a black roof, dark alloy wheels and grille changes.
Several of these features have appeared before. Toyota's announcement for the 2025 Leader Edition, dated 8 October 2025, already described black and maroon seats and door trims, auto-folding mirrors, illuminated scuff plates and tyre-pressure monitoring. That version also had a black roof, glossy black wheels and a bonnet emblem. Calling every item a first-time addition would overstate this update.
The earlier announcement described a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. It directed customers to dealerships for prices. That gives prospective owners some useful history when comparing an older showroom car with the newly announced edition: ask for the model year and the actual equipment list on each quotation.
Read the specification by variant
Toyota's current Fortuner brochure covers the wider range. It lists seven seats, an 80-litre fuel tank and dimensions of 4,795 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,835 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,745 mm. These are useful measurements for checking a parking bay or garage entrance before arranging a test drive.
The brochure separates diesel manual and automatic torque figures: 420 Nm for the manual and 500 Nm for the automatic, with 204 PS listed for both. These are regular-range specifications, rather than a separate technical sheet for the 2026 Leader Edition. Buyers should match the engine and transmission description to the exact car offered by their dealer.
Equipment needs the same care. The brochure marks high and low range, downhill assist and a locking differential against four-wheel-drive versions. It also warns that features vary by grade. A feature photographed or advertised elsewhere in the Fortuner range should not automatically be assumed to come with the edition being booked.
Warranty and servicing costs
Toyota's published warranty policy lists new-vehicle cover for three years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. It separately specifies two years or 50,000 km for paint and surface rust on the Fortuner. Accessories have a one-year warranty from installation, while tyres and the auxiliary battery have separate manufacturer warranty arrangements.
That distinction matters when comparing an edition package with a standard car plus accessories. Ask the dealership which warranty covers each fitted item and when its cover begins. Keep the invoice and installation record with the vehicle documents, especially if some of the equipment is fitted after the car reaches the showroom.
Toyota also distinguishes free labour from free maintenance. Its service policy says lubricants, consumables and parts remain chargeable during the listed free-labour services. Routine wear and maintenance are outside the vehicle warranty. A service package quotation should therefore show what is included, how long it lasts and what the owner will still pay for.
Before paying a booking amount
Get the exact variant, colour, total payable amount and expected handover date in writing. Ask whether the booking amount is refundable, which charges would be retained after cancellation, and whether any insurance, accessory or maintenance package in the quotation is optional. Compare the same set of items across dealerships so that a lower headline quotation does not hide a different specification.
The announcement follows Toyota's September sales report, covered in Dalimss News, which recorded 28,218 vehicles across domestic sales and exports. That company-wide total does not establish demand or waiting periods for this edition.
