NEW DELHI: The ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2026) starts at Rs 2,89,990 on the official India product page, against Rs 3,49,990 for the ROG Strix G18 (2026). That puts Rs 60,000 between the advertised entry prices. The comparison involves a larger screen, a different graphics processor and different connections, while both families use Intel's Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor.

Price as of 4 November 2026, 00:07 IST. These are starting figures displayed on the product family pages. They should not be read as a price for every memory configuration. ASUS lists more than one SKU under each family, so a quotation needs the full product code alongside its RAM specification.
The graphics difference goes beyond screen size
The India specification sheets give the G18 an RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB of graphics memory, compared with the G16's RTX 5070 and 8GB. Their stated GPU power limits also differ. These figures describe the hardware and its power allowance; they do not establish a measured performance advantage in a particular game.
That distinction matters in this pairing because the processor name stays the same. Someone comparing only the Core Ultra badge could miss where the extra spending goes. The larger machine changes the graphics tier as well as the physical workspace. A fair game comparison would need matching resolution, quality settings and operating modes, rather than an assumption based on the screen diagonal.
300Hz requires a particular GPU mode
Both detailed India specification sheets list a maximum refresh rate of 300Hz. They also state that the default is 240Hz in Standard, Eco and Optimized GPU modes. Enabling 300Hz requires selecting Ultimate GPU mode in Armoury Crate. That condition belongs alongside the headline refresh figure.
The G18 overview still describes a 240Hz panel, while its detailed specification sheet lists 300Hz with that operating condition. This comparison follows the detailed sheet and makes the qualification explicit. It would be sensible to have the invoiced configuration identify the panel, especially when comparing a shop description with ASUS's family overview.
For a desk setup, our Laptop and tablet price guide covers a separate external-display choice. An external monitor and a laptop's own panel are different parts of the setup; neither specification proves what frame rate the computer will deliver.
Connections and carrying weight also change
The G16 lists Thunderbolt 4 alongside a separate USB-C connection. The G18 lists two Thunderbolt 5 connections and 2.5G LAN. Both specification sheets include HDMI 2.1 FRL and USB-A connections. Those differences make the peripheral plan relevant, particularly where a gaming machine also handles external storage and a wired network.
The G18 weighs 3.20kg against the G16's 2.65kg, before considering what else goes into a bag. Both list a 90Wh battery. Equal battery capacity cannot settle which lasts longer, because the display, graphics workload and operating mode also affect consumption. The official figures support a capacity comparison, without supporting an equal-runtime claim.
Read the configuration code before comparing totals
ASUS's detailed pages show separate memory configurations and expansion slots. The advertised starting price therefore answers the entry-cost question, while the SKU answers what is installed. Keeping those questions together is especially useful for Indian households using the same laptop for coursework, games and a shared desk: a larger chassis does not by itself explain the full bill.
