NEW DELHI: Nokia 6310 (2024) combines a 2.8-inch screen with enlarged menus, larger font options and an accessibility mode that can show one icon at a time. HMD's India page lists the selected Black, 8MB RAM and 16MB storage version at Rs 3,839. The accessibility features deserve a closer look than the familiar model name alone.

What accessibility mode actually changes
HMD describes a mode that can enlarge the font further, present a single icon and turn the volume to maximum. Those changes address different parts of using a keypad phone: seeing the label, finding the intended menu item and hearing the device. A bigger screen is only one part of that combination.
For a family setting up this Nokia for an older relative, the useful demonstration is a complete everyday task. Let the intended user find a saved contact, start a call, end it and return to the home screen. That reveals whether the enlarged interface helps them navigate independently, rather than simply making the opening screen look easier.
The maximum-volume behaviour also deserves an individual check. A setting that helps someone notice the phone may be uncomfortable for another person. The sensible setup is to assess the actual user's preference and surroundings, then check the result together. The product description is a feature explanation, rather than a hearing assessment.
Language support and spoken assistance are different
The Indian listing identifies the phone talker as English and separately advertises support for 13 languages. These statements should not be merged into a claim that spoken assistance works in every supported language. A household needing a particular language should ask for a demonstration of the exact function it expects to use.
This distinction matters when somebody else chooses and configures the handset. A relative may see a familiar language in a menu and assume all prompts will be spoken in it. Checking menu text and spoken output as separate tasks makes the setup more useful and avoids treating the word accessibility as a blanket guarantee.
The hardware limits still matter
HMD's international sheet identifies the 2024 model as a 2G GSM/GPRS device. USB-C charging and Bluetooth 5.0 do not change that cellular limit. The intended Indian mobile connection therefore needs a separate compatibility check. A convenient interface cannot compensate for a handset that does not work with the required network service.
The same sheet lists a 3.5mm headphone socket and microSD support up to 32GB. It specifies S30+ software and 16MB of internal storage, with system software occupying part of that space. This is a feature-phone arrangement for basic tasks and local media, rather than storage comparable to an Android phone.
Its removable battery is rated at 1,450mAh. HMD gives an up-to-20-day standby figure on the international sheet. Standby describes a waiting phone, not continuous calls or radio listening. It would be misleading to turn that number into a promise that an active user only needs to charge after that period.
Who it is for
The 6310's clearest use case is a caller who benefits from enlarged text, a simpler menu view and physical navigation. It needs a careful setup with the intended user, including language, volume and network checks. This explainer does not establish that its screen, speaker or keys suit every person with an accessibility need.
