NEW DELHI: ASUS announced the TUF Gaming 16 FX610 in India on 25 August 2026 with a starting suggested retail price of Rs 1,79,990. The important qualification is that this was a family starting price. ASUS describes the processor and graphics ceilings separately, so the announcement does not establish that the entry configuration contains every top specification.

The launch figure and the current listing are different

Price as of 31 October 2026, 00:12 IST: the official launch release still records Rs 1,79,990 as the starting SRP. The linked ASUS India store page displayed Rs 1,54,990, including taxes, when checked. That page identifies the FX610 family rather than exposing a complete price-to-configuration table in its readable text.

The store figure therefore cannot be assigned here to a particular processor, graphics chip or memory combination. It also should not be confused with the August announcement. This distinction matters when a search result for the launch sits alongside a newer store listing for the same family.

What the FX610 design actually changes

ASUS puts several connections at the rear, including HDMI, Ethernet and power. For a gaming laptop that spends evenings connected to a monitor, this arrangement has a practical purpose: the thickest cables can leave the desk behind the screen instead of crossing the mouse area.

The product page also shows connections along the sides. Rear-facing ports do not mean every connector has moved behind the hinge. A desk layout should allow access to both sides, particularly if external storage and a headset remain attached during work.

The lid and keyboard area have an anti-fingerprint treatment, while the launch release specifies a hinge that opens through 180 degrees. These are everyday design details rather than evidence of faster gaming. They matter in a machine intended to move between a shared table, a classroom and a more permanent gaming setup.

Cooling claims need their test conditions

The cooling system uses two 80-blade fans and three heatpipes. ASUS describes operation around 40dB in its laboratory testing. That is a company claim, not a noise measurement made by this publication, and the product page says results depend on the environment and usage.

A quieter cooling target can be relevant when the same computer handles a lecture, a call and a game. It does not establish that performance remains identical across every operating mode. The published fan design tells us how ASUS approaches airflow; it cannot replace a sustained performance test.

The graphics power figure is similarly useful because a laptop GPU's name alone does not describe the whole implementation. Here the official India page supplies a power ceiling for the advertised graphics option. No frame-rate estimate follows from that specification without a defined game, resolution and settings.

Expansion is different from what arrives installed

The presence of accessible memory and storage slots is a meaningful part of the FX610 proposition. It gives a concrete route to add capacity rather than treating the machine's initial configuration as its permanent limit. The installed modules and drives still need to be checked against the exact order code.

ASUS's launch release describes expansion support up to 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD storage. Those are expansion claims, not the contents of the entry model. A laptop advertised with room to grow can still ship with substantially less memory or storage.

For Indian households sharing one computer between study and gaming, the model-specific question is whether that upgrade layout and cable arrangement suit the way the laptop will be used. Neither the starting SRP nor the maximum GPU line answers that question on its own.
