The official NEET UG 2026 syllabus PDF is available through the NTA NEET website. It contains Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with 20 numbered units in Physics, 20 in Chemistry and 10 in Biology. Use the document marked 2026 for that examination edition; a syllabus labelled 2027 in a search result needs its own official confirmation.
The syllabus document linked by NTA includes the National Medical Commission's Under Graduate Medical Education Board notice dated 22 December 2025. That date is the notice date, while 2026 is the examination edition. The two years appearing together do not make it a syllabus for two separate entrance cycles.
| Subject | Units in the 2026 document | Examples of coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 20 | Mechanics, electricity, optics, experimental skills |
| Chemistry | 20 | Physical, inorganic and organic chemistry |
| Biology | 10 | Cells, physiology, genetics, ecology |
How to download the NEET syllabus 2026 PDF
Open the official NEET home page and find the Public Notices entry titled Syllabus for NEET (UG)-2026 Examination. Open its accessible document link. The home page also provides Information Bulletin for NEET(UG)-2026 under Information. The bulletin explains the test scheme as well as providing syllabus material.
Check the edition in the document itself before saving a personal copy. The website also contains archived material, and an older bulletin can appear in navigation alongside the current edition. For a study checklist, record the subject, unit heading and individual topics from the actual syllabus instead of relying only on a chapter list found elsewhere.
NEET Physics, Chemistry and Biology syllabus: what is included?
Physics begins with measurement, kinematics and laws of motion. It then covers work and energy, rotational motion, gravitation, properties of solids and liquids, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, oscillations and waves. Electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic topics, optics and modern-physics topics appear later in the list. Experimental Skills is a separate final unit.
That final unit deserves a separate place in a revision checklist. Reading only the familiar theory headings can leave an applicant with an incomplete picture of the published coverage. The PDF supplies the detailed topics beneath each unit, which is the useful level for checking whether a particular concept belongs in the official outline.
Chemistry is organised into physical, inorganic and organic sections. Physical chemistry includes atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, solutions, equilibrium, electrochemistry and kinetics. Inorganic coverage includes periodicity, p-block elements, d- and f-block elements and coordination compounds. The organic portion runs from basic principles and hydrocarbons to compounds containing different functional groups, biomolecules and practical chemistry.
Biology's ten units cover diversity, structural organisation, cell structure, plant physiology, human physiology, reproduction, genetics and evolution, human welfare, biotechnology and ecology. The official units are broad umbrellas. A learner should open each unit's detailed content before deciding that a school textbook chapter is fully covered or can be left out.
Does the syllabus PDF give chapter-wise weightage?
The syllabus identifies what can be examined. It does not allocate a guaranteed number of questions to each chapter in the unit list. A topic being long, familiar or prominent in a preparation plan does not turn it into an official promise of marks. Keep any personal priority list separate from the regulator's list of examinable content.
The 2026 information bulletin gives the subject distribution for the test: 45 Physics questions, 45 Chemistry questions and 90 Biology questions, for 180 questions and 720 marks. It specifies 180 minutes. Those subject totals are different from chapter weightage and should not be read as a fixed allocation within individual units.
The marking rule in that bulletin awards four marks for a correct answer, deducts one for an incorrect answer and gives zero for an unanswered question. This helps explain why a syllabus checklist and practice in answering accurately serve different purposes. Knowing that a topic is included does not establish how confidently a candidate can answer a question on it.
This guide was checked against the official pages on 2 November 2026. Readers preparing for a later cycle should revisit the portal when that cycle's document appears and compare the detailed wording. Our NEET age-limit explainer covers a separate eligibility question.
