JEE Main 2027 eligibility and application fee
The 2027 information bulletin allows candidates who passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, to take the examination. There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main itself. An institution can still have its own admission conditions, so eligibility to sit the entrance examination does not by itself establish eligibility for every course or institute.
For one paper at an examination centre in India, the fee is Rs 1,000 for a General category male candidate and Rs 800 for a General category female candidate. General-EWS and OBC-NCL male candidates pay Rs 900, while female candidates in those categories pay Rs 800. SC, ST, PwD, PwBD and Third Gender candidates pay Rs 500. Multiple paper combinations have a different fee table. Processing charges and applicable GST are additional.
The 24 October application notice separates the regular deadline, late submission and correction periods. Applicants should keep those stages distinct: correcting an existing form is a different activity from submitting a late application.
How to apply for JEE Main 2027 Session 1
- Open the official website and choose the Session 1 application link under Candidate Activity.
- Register as instructed, create a password and retain the system generated application number.
- Complete personal and educational details, select the paper and examination city preferences, and upload the required images and documents.
- Pay the applicable fee through an offered payment method, then download, save and print the confirmation page.
The official information bulletin requires a live photograph as well as a scanned photograph and signature. It also specifies a Class 10 certificate or marksheet upload and applicable supporting documents. Read the upload specifications before starting; the registration number alone does not prove successful fee payment.
The scanned photograph must be a legible JPG or JPEG file between 10 KB and 200 KB. The signature must use the same formats and be between 10 KB and 100 KB. The Class 10 certificate or marksheet must be a PDF between 50 KB and 300 KB. Prepare each file against its own limit; the document upload conditions are different from the photograph conditions. Keep the original records available while entering names, dates and qualification details so that the form matches the supporting documents.
What NTA says about DigiLocker and name matching
In its 28 October advisory, NTA recommends candidates use their own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan credentials. It advises DigiLocker Re-KYC before completing the form so current details are fetched. The name and date of birth entered must match the Class 10 certificate or marksheet.
Use your own or your parent’s or guardian’s contact details as directed in the notice, and submit only one application.
