VARANASI: Admit cards released on Saturday, October 31, 2026, are now available for registered candidates taking the Special Teacher Eligibility Test on Tuesday, November 3, including those allotted centres in Varanasi. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has placed a Special TET Admit Card link on its official homepage.
Teachers and other eligible applicants preparing to travel from Lanka, Sigra or elsewhere in the city should download their individual hall ticket and check its full centre address before planning Tuesday's journey. Varanasi is one of six examination cities. The earlier district intimation does not replace the admission document, and the commission says candidates cannot enter the examination without a valid admit card.
Use Monday, November 2, to check the allotted shift, print the document and prepare the materials required by the examination instructions. Follow the reporting directions on your own ticket. The published examination start time is different from any earlier reporting time that your ticket may specify.
November 3 timings and the official download route
The commission's examination notice lists two sessions: 9:30 am to noon and 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm IST on November 3. Each lasts two hours and 30 minutes. The six divisional headquarters are Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Agra. Check the allotted location rather than assuming that an address in Varanasi automatically means a Varanasi centre.
- Open the commission's official homepage.
- Select Special TET Admit Card, which links to the official candidate portal.
- Enter the details requested by that portal to access your document.
- Download the hall ticket and take a legible printout.
The homepage currently links to the candidate portal. Keep your registration information available and use the fields displayed there. After downloading, compare the name, roll number, examination date, shift and centre address with your application information. Read the instructions printed with the ticket before setting it aside for examination day.
The distinction between a district slip and an admit card is explicit in the commission's October 23 notice. That earlier notice announced district information and the October 31 hall-ticket download date. The new development is that the admit-card facility is available ahead of Tuesday's examination.
What candidates should take and how to mark answers
The commission's Special TET advertisement and examination instructions require a black ballpoint pen for the OMR sheet. Other colours, fountain pens, gel pens, sketch pens, pencils and whitener are prohibited for filling the answer sheet. Pack the permitted pen with the printed hall ticket and follow the ticket's identification requirements.
Fill the rectangular boxes and answer circles carefully. The instructions say a marked circle cannot subsequently be changed, and a question with more than one circle darkened receives no marks. Erasing, scraping or using correction fluid on the OMR sheet is prohibited. The commission also warns that damage to the sheet can prevent its evaluation.
Paper structure to check before leaving
The official scheme provides 150 multiple choice questions worth one mark each, with four options per question and no negative marking. The question paper uses Hindi and English apart from the language subjects. Candidates should revise the structure for their own level rather than treating both papers as identical.
At primary level, child development and teaching methods, Hindi, the second language, mathematics and environmental studies each account for 30 questions. At upper primary level, the first three components carry 30 questions each, while the relevant mathematics and science or social studies component carries 60. The second-language choices listed are English, Urdu and Sanskrit.
The instructions require candidates to take the examination at their assigned centre and do not permit a centre change. Admission remains provisional and subject to eligibility checks.
