PM SVANidhi provides eligible street vendors with collateral-free working capital loans in three successive stages: up to Rs 15,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000. These are repayable loans, not grants. The official portal offers separate application routes for each stage and a Know Your Application Status facility. Approval depends on eligibility, verification and the lender's process.

For someone comparing an older leaflet with the current website, the difference is significant. The first two loan limits have been enhanced, and the lending period now runs until 31 March 2030. The revised PM SVANidhi Scheme Guidelines, read on 1 November 2026, set out the current structure. Applicants should use these rather than assume the original limits still apply.

Who is eligible for a PM SVANidhi loan?

The revised guidelines identify street vendors operating in city-regions as the target beneficiaries. The scheme covers states and Union territories that have notified rules and schemes under the Street Vendors Act, 2014. Expansion to census towns and peri-urban areas is being undertaken in a graded manner. The portal currently says vendors from census towns can also obtain scheme benefits.

In statutory towns, a Town Vending Committee or urban local body issues the Certificate of Vending, identity card or Letter of Recommendation. For census towns and peri-urban areas, the guidelines assign the Letter of Recommendation to Block Development Offices after verification. They specify completion of verification and issue of the letter within 15 days of the application. That is a document-processing provision, not a promise that a bank loan will arrive within 15 days.

A vendor who is missing from an earlier municipal survey should therefore ask about the appropriate recognition route. The absence of an old survey number should lead to a check with the local authority, rather than an assumption that every person selling goods automatically qualifies. State and local identification arrangements remain relevant under the revised guidelines.

Documents and how to apply online

The ministry's pre-application instructions ask applicants to understand the loan form, check their recognition status and prepare their documents. A surveyed vendor should keep the Survey Reference Number and a copy of the vending certificate or identity card, where issued. A vendor recognised through a Letter of Recommendation should keep that document ready.

The instructions also ask applicants to link their mobile number with Aadhaar for validation during the online process. The portal separately displays LoR-cum-loan routes with and without Aadhaar. If the normal route does not fit your documents, seek help from the relevant authority or a Common Service Centre instead of entering another person's identity details.

  1. Open the official PM SVANidhi portal and read the current scheme instructions.
  2. Check your municipal survey or recognition record and assemble the required documents.
  3. Select the appropriate loan stage. A first-time applicant should not treat the third-stage limit as immediately available.
  4. Complete the application through the official route or obtain assistance from a Common Service Centre.
  5. Keep the application reference and lender details for follow-up.

How to check PM SVANidhi application status

Use Know Your Application Status on the portal and follow the current verification prompts. Keep the application reference and registered contact details available. If the record needs correction, ask the urban local body or lender which field is preventing progress. A survey entry, submitted application, sanction and disbursement represent different stages; one should not be mistaken for another.

The homepage also has a facility for changing a mobile number and a transfer request for vendors who move between urban local bodies. Those facilities may help an existing applicant correct the record, but they do not waive verification. Use the official account and application channels yourself. This article has not accessed any applicant's private status.

Repayment, interest subsidy and the deadline

Timely or early repayment of one tranche makes a vendor eligible for the next tranche, subject to the process. The guidelines say no prepayment penalty will be charged for repayment before the scheduled date. They provide a 7 percent annual interest subsidy, credited quarterly, with conditions linked to the account remaining standard. This does not mean every lender charges a flat 7 percent interest rate.

Interest rates depend on the lender category and the applicable rules. Ask for the actual rate, instalment amount and repayment schedule before accepting a sanction. The maximum figures in the table are ceilings, and the three tranches are successive credit facilities. Neither a portal registration nor a vending document guarantees the full maximum loan.

The lending extension to 31 March 2030 is the scheme window, not a newly announced last date to submit every application this month. For help, the portal's contact directory lists local and state nodal officers and technical support at pmsvanidhi.support@sidbi.in. It does not display a single general borrower telephone helpline in that contact section; use the relevant local body's listed contact or the lender for an individual case.

Related public-service guides explain e-Shram registration, PM Vidyalaxmi education loan eligibility and free legal aid applications. These services have separate eligibility checks and should not be treated as automatic additions to a vendor loan.
