NEW DELHI: The UGC NET December 2026 correction window is open from 2 November to 4 November 2026, closing at 11:50 pm. Registered candidates can correct only the fields permitted by the National Testing Agency. The most consequential restriction is that corrections can be submitted once: after submission, the application is frozen.

The position was checked on 2 November 2026 at 9:40 pm IST against the official UGC NET portal and NTA's two-page notice dated 2 November. The home page displays a correction-window link under Candidate Activity. This facility concerns an existing application for the December examination.

UGC NET correction window: which fields can change?

Annexure I allows a change to any one of three name fields: the candidate's name, father's name or mother's name. That wording matters for applicants with errors in more than one name entry. The notice does not offer an unrestricted opportunity to rewrite all three names together.

The annexure also lists date of birth, gender, category and subject among the editable details. Its entry for sub-category or PwBD carries a condition concerning verification through the UDID portal. Candidates should read that condition against their own application rather than assume every disability-related entry remains editable.

Examination-city preferences may be changed on the basis of the permanent and present addresses already supplied. A preference remains a request: NTA says it is not obliged to allot the candidate's preferred city. Changing a city choice therefore cannot be treated as confirmation of a particular examination centre.

Mobile number, email address, permanent and present addresses, uploaded photograph and uploaded signature cannot be changed through this window. An applicant trying to replace an image should check that exclusion before reaching the final submission stage. The list is explicit even though other personal particulars can be edited.

How to reach the official UGC NET correction link

Start at the UGC NET home page and locate Candidate Activity. Select the link labelled Correction window UGC-NET December 2026. The same page carries the new correction notice under Public Notices. Open the notice and its annexure before using the candidate facility, so the permitted changes are clear.

Review the details already entered, identify the permitted corrections and check them against the documents used for the application. Keep the one-submission restriction in mind before submitting. These are checks to make before committing a change; the public notice does not promise a second opportunity to fix an error introduced during correction.

If the correction increases the applicable examination fee, the extra amount must be paid. A change of category deserves careful review before submission because it can affect the applicable fee as well as the particulars recorded in the application. NTA lists credit card, debit card, net banking and UPI as payment methods. The annexure says a change requiring an additional fee takes effect only after successful payment, and fees already paid will not be refunded.

What candidates should check before the deadline

A useful final review has three parts: compare the corrected details with supporting records, verify that any additional payment succeeded and retain the record the portal makes available after submission. The deadline applies to the correction process, so leaving a fee-dependent change unfinished creates an avoidable problem.

Applicants checking broader examination requirements can also read our UGC NET eligibility guide. For the original application context, see the December 2026 application report; the new correction notice supplies the dates discussed here. Research candidates comparing examinations may also find the CSIR NET December application guide useful.

The full rules are in the official correction notice and Annexure I. For a field that the notice excludes or a condition specific to an application, use the clarification route provided there. Do not assume that a request made outside the permitted facility will change the submitted form.
