CUET PG eligibility has two separate layers. The NTA's 2026 information bulletin permits graduates and candidates appearing in the final year of a bachelor's degree or equivalent examination in 2026 to take the test, with no examination-level age limit. Admission to a particular postgraduate programme still depends on that university's qualification, subject, age and other eligibility conditions.

This distinction answers several common searches at once. Being allowed to sit CUET PG does not mean that every master's course is open to you. Nor does the absence of an NTA examination age limit remove an age condition imposed by a participating university. Read the examination rules and the programme requirements together before choosing a test paper.

Can final-year students apply for CUET PG?

Chapter 3 of the official CUET PG 2026 bulletin includes candidates who have passed a bachelor's degree or equivalent examination and those pursuing that qualification who are appearing in its final year in 2026. It does not make first-year or second-year students generally eligible merely because they intend to pursue postgraduate study later.

A final-year applicant should also check when the intended university requires the completed degree, result or other evidence. Eligibility to take an entrance test and the documents needed to complete admission operate at different stages. Keep the university's deadline alongside your degree result timeline, rather than assuming that NTA will decide when a missing qualification document can be supplied.

This guide uses the verified 2026 rules, checked on 30 October 2026, 21:57 IST. It does not announce a 2027 application opening or carry the 2026 final-year condition forward as a confirmed 2027 rule. Candidates preparing for a later cycle should use the new cycle's bulletin when available and compare its qualification wording with their own graduation year.

What is the CUET PG age limit or minimum percentage?

The 2026 bulletin states that there is no age limit for appearing in CUET PG. Immediately alongside that provision, it tells candidates to verify the age requirements of the university they intend to join. An applicant returning to education after a gap can therefore check the test-level rule without overlooking a programme-specific restriction.

Chapter 3 does not establish one admission percentage for every programme and university. It instead makes the university's existing policies on qualification, subject combinations, reservations, relaxation and other conditions applicable. A percentage quoted for one institution or course should not be presented as a universal CUET PG requirement. Check the rule for the exact programme and the category under which you intend to apply.

The same approach applies to searches for MSc or MCA eligibility. Start with the university and the specific course, then check its accepted undergraduate qualification, required subjects and relevant test paper. A CUET PG score cannot by itself cure a mismatch between the applicant's degree background and the programme's published conditions.

How to check the right university and test-paper rules

Begin at the official CUET PG website. On the home page, open Information and choose “Detailed Advertisement” to reach the bulletin document page. The page also carries a syllabus announcement linking to the test-paper syllabus. The participating universities page groups institutions under Central Universities, State Universities, Government Institutions or Fully Funded institutions, and Deemed or Private Universities for 2026. Use the appropriate institution's own admission material for the programme requirements.

Make a short comparison before applying: intended programme, accepted bachelor's qualification, required undergraduate subjects, minimum marks if specified, category conditions and the relevant CUET PG paper. Check all of these against the same admission year. A similarly named course at another university is not a substitute for the rules of the institution you want to enter.

The bulletin says universities conduct their own counselling using the NTA scorecard and that a score does not confer an admission right. It also limits the 2026 score's admission validity to academic year 2026-27.
