NEW DELHI: The brochure currently linked from Maruti Suzuki's Swift page lists S-CNG fuel efficiency of 35.07 km/kg for the manual and 35.34 km/kg for the AMT. The product-page FAQ still quotes 32.85 km/kg. Readers checking the car should distinguish the linked brochure's transmission-specific figures from the different number that remains elsewhere on the official site.
| Item | Official detail |
|---|---|
| Source used for the transmission split | Brochure linked from the Swift product page |
| S-CNG manual efficiency | 35.07 km/kg |
| S-CNG AMT efficiency | 35.34 km/kg |
| CNG trim names in that brochure | VXi, VXi (O), ZXi |
| Gearbox choices listed for those trims | 5MT and 5AMT |
| Separate product-page FAQ figure | 32.85 km/kg |
| CNG cylinder description | 55 litres water-filling capacity |
Why the document matters
This is a case where reading only the website summary gives an incomplete account. The downloadable brochure explicitly separates manual and automated-manual CNG versions. Its table and the efficiency labels near the end support the transmission-specific CNG numbers reported here. That is more precise evidence for this question than a general FAQ answer without a gearbox split.
A separate official S-CNG brochure also remains accessible and quotes the same lower number as the webpage. It describes a manual-only CNG offering in its technical table. A person comparing saved documents could therefore be looking at different versions of the specification without realising it. Keep the document link with the figure when asking which configuration is being discussed.
The currently linked brochure does contain a separate inconsistency in its petrol figures: the promotional panel reverses the manual and AMT values compared with its technical table and closing labels. This story therefore confines its efficiency comparison to CNG, where the manual and AMT figures agree across those sections. It does not assign a date to the specification change.
Read the fuel unit before comparing the result
CNG consumption here is expressed as distance per kilogram. Petrol consumption is normally expressed as distance per litre. Those units measure different quantities of fuel, so subtracting the headline numbers cannot establish a percentage saving in a household's fuel bill. A money comparison needs the relevant local fuel prices and a realistic consumption estimate for the particular car.
The official CNG specification also gives the cylinder's water-filling capacity. That describes cylinder volume; it is not a statement that the tank holds an equivalent number of kilograms of gas. Treating the litre figure as a gas weight would produce an unsupported tank-range estimate. This distinction matters when planning filling stops beyond a familiar daily route.
For a Delhi commuter, the more useful exercise is to record fuel purchased and distance covered over the actual route. Keep petrol and CNG entries separate when both fuels are used. The exercise establishes a personal reference for that journey. It does not convert a manufacturer's certified figure into a guarantee about traffic, driving style or every refill.
The trim and gearbox are separate choices
VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi appear as CNG grades in the linked brochure, with both gearbox types shown. The trim name identifies an equipment level, while the transmission description identifies how gear changes are handled. A brochure image showing a feature-rich Swift cannot establish the equipment on an individual CNG version. Match the entire variant description to the equipment table.
The distinction is especially relevant to readers whose older Swift research only mentioned CNG manuals. An automatic option affects the driving controls and the version being specified. It is not enough to append the word CNG to an otherwise generic automatic-car description. The manufacturer's current document gives a more specific starting point for checking the car's identity.
Maruti's current product page continues to describe six airbags as standard across the Swift range. It also illustrates cabin conveniences while warning that features vary by version. Keep safety fitment, comfort equipment and fuel consumption as separate lines in a comparison. A higher economy claim does not, on its own, explain what the chosen trim contains.
Separate the updated specification from earlier price coverage
Earlier reporting includes the Swift price guide, Swift and Baleno price comparison and Swift and Dzire comparison. This article checks the official fuel-efficiency documents and does not republish those price lists.
