NEW DELHI: The Maruti Suzuki Dzire's Bharat NCAP fact sheet records 29.46 points out of 32 for adult protection and 41.57 out of 49 for child protection in its 2025 assessment. Maruti announced a five-star Bharat NCAP result. Its separate Global NCAP assessment awarded five stars for adults and four for children, so the test programme must accompany any rating claim.

Keep the programme name beside the stars
A bare claim that the Dzire has five stars leaves an avoidable question unanswered: which assessment is being quoted? Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP publish separate records. Their results should retain their own category labels and supporting scores. Combining an adult result from one programme with a child result from the other would create a rating that neither organisation issued.
The Bharat NCAP fact sheet identifies the actual test vehicle and separately directs readers to an annexure for rating applicability. These serve different purposes. The first tells readers what was tested; the second establishes which specified variants share the result. A showroom photograph or a general reference to the model family cannot replace that applicability record.
That distinction matters when following a car through changes in fuel, gearbox or equipment. It is sensible to match the precise variant description against the assessment document before repeating a safety claim. This article reports the published gasoline assessment. It does not extend its scope to an unlisted version just because the badge on the boot is the same.
The child-protection result needs its own reading
Bharat NCAP publishes child protection as a separate category, with a different maximum score from the adult category. The two raw point totals are therefore not interchangeable. Reading the child section in its own right keeps attention on the assessment relevant to families travelling with children, rather than treating the adult star result as a complete description of every occupant's protection.
Global NCAP's report, meanwhile, describes tests using child restraints and comments on the protection of the child dummies. Its published new-model result is four stars for child protection. That remains the figure to use when discussing that specific Global NCAP assessment, even when a later Bharat NCAP headline uses five-star language for the car.
For a family using the rear seats daily, the useful ownership task is to understand the restraint arrangements for the child and car involved. A star rating supplies evidence from a test programme. It does not identify the correct restraint for an individual child or demonstrate that a seat has been installed correctly in a particular vehicle.
The new model is distinct from the outgoing Dzire
Global NCAP's announcement discusses both the new 2024 Dzire and the outgoing model. It reports different results for them. This is an especially important qualification when a reader encounters an older crash-test video or a used-car description. The shared name does not make the generations interchangeable, and the date and vehicle identity should remain visible.
For the new model, Global NCAP describes a stable structure and footwell, but also records marginal driver-chest protection in the frontal test. A strong overall result can contain areas with a lower protection assessment. Reading the accompanying account gives a more useful picture than assuming that the highest headline rating means every body region received the best assessment.
Maruti's current Dzire page states that six airbags are fitted across variants. It also describes the HEARTECT structure, electronic stability assistance and braking systems. These equipment descriptions help identify the car's safety provision, while the NCAP documents record test performance. The presence of a camera, sunroof or convenience feature should be considered separately from the published crash result.
Use the assessment with the exact variant record
