NEW DELHI: India's two cheapest Maruti Suzuki cars are priced within Rs 20,000 of each other at every step. The S-Presso starts at Rs 3,49,900 ex-showroom Delhi and the Alto K10 at Rs 3,69,900, and across all eight matching versions the Alto costs between Rs 17,500 and Rs 20,000 more, according to Maruti's official price data. Price as of 27 October 2026, 12:30 AM IST.
The two share a lot. Both are Arena models with a 998 cc petrol engine, a 5-speed manual or AGS automated manual, and factory CNG on two trims, and both carry an (O) tag on every version. The trim ladders match exactly, which makes this one of the cleanest price comparisons in Maruti's range. What differs is the body: the Alto K10 is a conventional small hatchback and the S-Presso has a taller, SUV-styled shape.

Each range has eight versions. The top Alto K10, the VXi+ (O) AGS, costs Rs 5,44,900, and the top S-Presso, the VXi+ (O) AGS, costs Rs 5,27,400.
Entry versions: Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh
The S-Presso Std (O) at Rs 3,49,900 is the cheapest Maruti on sale, and the Alto K10 Std (O) follows at Rs 3,69,900. One step up, the LXi (O) costs Rs 3,82,400 on the S-Presso and Rs 3,99,900 on the Alto, which keeps the Alto just under Rs 4 lakh. Both Std (O) versions are manual only. Base versions leave out several comfort features, so check the feature list for the exact trim before you book.
Automatic and CNG
The S-Presso VXi (O) AGS at Rs 4,77,400 is the cheapest automatic Maruti sells; the Alto K10 VXi (O) AGS costs Rs 4,97,400. Both are automated manuals, with the clutch and shifts handled by the car. For CNG, the S-Presso LXi (O) CNG costs Rs 4,64,400 and the Alto K10 LXi (O) CNG Rs 4,84,400, and the VXi (O) CNG versions cost Rs 5,14,400 and Rs 5,34,400. CNG versions are manual only.
What each upgrade costs
The two ladders also step up by almost the same amounts. Moving from Std (O) to LXi (O) costs Rs 32,500 on the S-Presso and Rs 30,000 on the Alto. The AGS gearbox adds Rs 45,000 over the VXi (O) manual on both cars. Factory CNG is the costliest add-on: Rs 82,000 over the LXi (O) petrol on the S-Presso and Rs 84,500 on the Alto, an amount that takes a while to recover through cheaper running costs if you drive little.
Claimed mileage
| Version | Alto K10 claimed | S-Presso claimed |
|---|---|---|
| Std (O) | 24.39 km/l | 24.12 km/l |
| VXi (O) | 24.39 km/l | 24.76 km/l |
| VXi (O) AGS | 24.90 km/l | 25.30 km/l |
| LXi (O) CNG | 33.40 km/kg | 32.73 km/kg |
On Maruti's claimed numbers the Alto K10 is slightly ahead on the base petrol manual and on CNG, while the S-Presso claims more on its VXi manual and AGS. The differences are small enough that driving style and traffic will matter more.
Which one to pick
If every rupee counts, the S-Presso saves Rs 17,500 to Rs 20,000 trim for trim and gives a higher seating position. The Alto K10 suits buyers who prefer a lower, conventional hatchback or the slightly better claimed CNG figure. Ex-showroom prices exclude registration and insurance, which will add to the bill, so get a written on-road quote.
