NEW DELHI: Kia Syros automatics begin at HTK+ in the official seven-trim comparison. Petrol uses a seven-speed DCT and diesel a six-speed automatic. The entry HTE is petrol manual only, while HTX and HTX(O) are automatic only. Read the engine and gearbox rows before comparing cabin equipment.
| Syros trim | Petrol gearboxes | Diesel gearboxes |
|---|---|---|
| HTE | 6MT | Not listed |
| HTE(O) | 6MT | 6MT |
| HTK(EX) | 6MT | 6MT |
| HTK+ | 6MT or 7DCT | 6MT or 6AT |
| HTK+(O) | 6MT or 7DCT | 6MT or 6AT |
| HTX | 7DCT | 6AT |
| HTX(O) | 7DCT | 6AT |
Read a trim name as only part of the specification
MT means manual transmission, DCT means dual-clutch transmission and AT identifies the diesel automatic in this matrix. The number gives the forward-gear count. Keep the full description together when requesting a quotation: trim, fuel and gearbox. A trim label on its own does not establish which vehicle is being discussed.
This is especially important in the middle of the Syros range. HTK+ and HTK+(O) each spread across both fuels and both transmission types. A family comparing two cars under the same broad badge may therefore be comparing different mechanical versions as well as different equipment. Begin with the table, then move across the feature rows.
The engines are distinct choices
Kia identifies the petrol engine as Smartstream G1.0 T-GDi and the diesel as D1.5 CRDi VGT. The showroom page quotes 120 PS and 172 Nm for petrol, against 116 PS and 250 Nm for diesel. Those outputs describe the engines; they do not establish that every gearbox can be ordered in every trim.
The brochure gives the displacement as 998 cc for petrol and 1,493 cc for diesel, with a two-wheel-drive layout. It also separates braking hardware by transmission: automatics have disc brakes at all wheels, while manuals use front discs and rear drums. That is another reason to preserve the gearbox name in a comparison sheet.
When discussing the car with a dealer, ask for the complete description to be written beside every quoted feature. If a printout merely says Syros HTK+, add a blank space for fuel and gearbox before you start checking equipment. This prevents a demonstration in one version from becoming an assumption about another.
Follow the restrictions beside the feature
The showroom's HTK+ summary lists a panoramic sunroof and sliding, reclining split rear seats. It separately marks the electric parking brake with auto hold, smart key with push-button start and paddle shifters as automatic-only features at that trim. Read those qualifications as part of the feature description rather than as small print to return to later.
Higher in the range, the HTX summary highlights front-seat ventilation, powered driver-seat adjustment and a larger touchscreen. HTX(O) adds a digital instrument display, touchscreen climate controls and rear-seat cushion ventilation in its listed highlights. Rear ventilation is therefore a specific item to verify on the chosen version, not a feature to infer from the model's promotional cabin photograph.
Check the cabin with passengers in mind
Syros is a five-seater with a published length of 3,995 mm and wheelbase of 2,550 mm. Its brochure's 465-litre boot figure carries an important condition: the second-row seat is slid to its foremost position, using the stated VDA method. That setting belongs beside the capacity figure whenever luggage space is discussed.
For a household carrying adults in the rear, inspect the boot with the seat adjusted to a comfortable passenger position. Then check the luggage you regularly carry. A brochure maximum can be useful for understanding flexibility, but it should not be mistaken for a measurement taken with every passenger's preferred seat adjustment.
The Syros makes this check particularly relevant because rear-seat movement is part of its equipment story. Ask to see how the seat moves and where the controls are on the actual trim. Keep the test practical: a bag, a passenger and a normal seating position can answer a question that a list of upholstery names cannot.
If a quotation substitutes a different version, revisit both the gearbox row and the equipment list before comparing totals. Treat the substitution as a fresh specification check, particularly where the original discussion centred on rear-seat comfort or automatic-only controls.
Use the live columns to resolve naming confusion
The comparison page's heading still carries older trim names, while its displayed columns list HTE through HTX(O). The showroom FAQ also refers to earlier labels in its sunroof answer. For this guide, the table uses the current comparison columns, cross-checked against the brochure's powertrain matrix. Retain that specific version when discussing a booking.
