NEW DELHI: Kawasaki India's official pages list the Z300 at Rs 3,24,000 and the Versys-X 300 at Rs 3,49,000. The comparison pairs the Z300's 2027 model listing with the Versys-X 300's 2026 listing. Both use a 296 cc parallel-twin engine, but their chassis dimensions and bodywork point towards different uses: an exposed street motorcycle and a taller machine with a touring-oriented layout.

Price as of 26 October 2026, 23:20 IST. These are the amounts displayed against the standard motorcycles on Kawasaki's India pages. The pages do not provide a complete registration and insurance breakdown alongside those figures. They should therefore be read as product-listing prices, not as a final on-road total.

The engine format is shared, the brief differs

Both motorcycles have liquid cooling, fuel injection and a six-speed transmission. Their peak output figures are close, with the lower-priced Z300 actually carrying the slightly higher published maximum power. The Versys price cannot be explained as payment for a larger engine or a higher peak-output specification.

The location of the power and torque peaks also matters when reading these figures. A maximum output is a measurement at a particular engine speed, not a description of every moment in traffic. The official tables alone do not establish acceleration, overtaking times or how either motorcycle feels when ridden with a passenger and luggage.

The Versys changes the chassis proportions

The Versys-X has the taller seat and greater stated ground clearance. It also uses a larger front-wheel format, with a 19-inch front tyre specification against the Z300's 17-inch front. These differences give the comparison more substance than the engine capacity, which is identical on the two pages.

Front and rear suspension travel are 130 mm and 148 mm on the Versys-X, compared with 120 mm and 132 mm on the Z300. Kawasaki lists telescopic front forks and a rear Uni-Trak suspension system for both. The travel figures describe how much movement is available, without establishing ride quality by themselves.

That distinction is relevant on unfamiliar roads. Greater clearance and suspension travel change the available chassis envelope, but they do not make a motorcycle immune to bottoming out or damage. Load, speed and the shape of an obstacle still matter. The specification comparison is useful without turning it into an unlimited off-road capability claim.

Bodywork and luggage separate their roles

The Versys-X page highlights a tall windscreen, front cowling and a rear carrier. The Z300 instead presents the exposed silhouette of Kawasaki's naked Z range. That is the most immediate distinction in their intended packaging: the Versys places more bodywork between rider and airflow and provides a visible starting point for carrying luggage.

Kawasaki also shows luggage, hand guards and auxiliary lighting among the Versys accessories. An accessory appearing in a gallery does not establish that it is included in the listed motorcycle price. Keeping the standard machine separate from optional equipment is essential when comparing a photographed touring setup with an unaccessorised street bike.

The published tank capacity and kerb mass are the same for this pair. A larger-looking motorcycle therefore does not necessarily have a larger fuel tank or a higher listed weight. Equally, matching tank capacities do not prove matching range: a fuel-consumption test under the same conditions would be needed for that conclusion.

Read the equipment lists with the price

The Z300 page lists an LCD instrument panel and describes its USB Type-C outlet as an optional accessory. That qualification matters because a feature headline can otherwise look like standard equipment. The same discipline applies to the Versys accessories: the price comparison should begin with what the standard listing actually includes.
