What Mana Black gets for the extra money

Royal Enfield's specification table lists a rally seat on the Mana Black, with a seat height of 860 mm. The standard seat sits at 825 mm and adjusts to 845 mm, and a low seat at 805 mm adjusts to 825 mm. The Mana Black's description on the page also lists an all-black finish with grey accents, rally-style mudguards, hand guards and wire-spoked tubeless wheels.

Royal Enfield's studio shots on the same page label the Hanle Black as a tubeless version too. Buyers deciding between the two black options should confirm the exact wheel and seat specification at the dealer, since the price gap between them is Rs 17,483.

Himalayan 450 specifications

Every colour uses the same 452 cc engine, rated at 40.02 PS (29.44 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm, with a 6-speed gearbox and ride-by-wire throttle. The bike has a 17-litre fuel tank, a kerb weight of 196 kg with 90 percent fuel and oil, and 230 mm of ground clearance.

The front brake is a 320 mm ventilated disc with a double-piston caliper, the rear a 270 mm disc, and the dual-channel ABS can be switched. Suspension is a 43 mm upside-down fork and a linkage mono-shock, each with 200 mm of travel. The wheelbase is 1,510 mm, the overall length 2,245 mm, the width 852 mm and the height 1,316 mm.

Which colour to buy

If you want the Himalayan 450 for the lowest price, Kaza Brown at Rs 3,08,029 gets you the same engine, chassis and dash as every other version. The Slate shades cost Rs 4,324 more, which is mostly a cosmetic choice. Riders who will stay on tarmac can also look at the Guerrilla 450, which uses the same 452 cc engine and starts at Rs 2,51,063 on Royal Enfield's site, Rs 56,966 less than the Kaza Brown Himalayan.

The Mana Black at Rs 3,39,564 makes sense for riders who want the taller rally seat and plan to ride off-road often. On-road prices will add registration and insurance, which differ by state, so ask the dealer for an itemised quote.
