What the price gaps mean
The Z650RS costs Rs 57,000 more than the Z650 for the same 50.2 kW and 64.0 Nm. Kawasaki's pages list a 12-litre tank on the RS against 15 litres on the Z650, so the extra money buys styling rather than range. The Ninja 650 costs only Rs 8,000 more than the Z650RS, and the Vulcan S another Rs 32,000.
The Versys 650 is the dearest at Rs 8,63,000, which is Rs 1,37,000 above the Z650. It buys the 21-litre tank, a 845 mm seat and 220 kg of kerb mass, according to the spec tables. The Vulcan S is the heaviest at 235 kg, which matters at parking speeds despite its low seat.
Power and weight
Kawasaki lists 50.2 kW (68 PS) at 8,000 rpm for both Z models, 48.8 kW (68 PS) for the Ninja 650 and 49.0 kW (67 PS) for the Versys 650. The Vulcan S makes 44.1 kW (61 PS) at 7,500 rpm, the lowest in the group, with torque of 62.4 Nm. Peak torque across the five ranges from 61.0 Nm to 64.0 Nm.
The Z650 is the lightest at 188 kg and the Vulcan S the heaviest at 235 kg. A rider who values a light bike for city traffic will find the Z650 the easiest of the group on paper.
