GURUGRAM: A traffic police survey identifying 48 locations vulnerable to crashes during winter fog was reported on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, prompting requests for repairs on the Delhi-Jaipur and Gurugram-Sohna highways. Reports of the police letter identify Kherki Daula, Manesar and the Subhash Chowk to Bhondsi corridor among the areas needing attention before visibility deteriorates.
Traffic police asked the National Highways Authority of India, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and the municipal corporation to inspect roads and correct the deficiencies, according to the reports. The concerns cover main carriageways, service lanes and connecting roads, so residents using local access routes are affected as well as highway commuters.
Where the survey found risks
The locations named in the reports include Kherki Daula toll plaza, Binola flyover, Jharsa flyover, Hero Honda Chowk, Manesar bus stand, IMT Chowk, Pachgaon Chowk and Bilaspur Chowk. Vatika Chowk, Dhunela flyover, Alipur Mor and Badshahpur Tikli Mor also appear. These are examples from the reported survey, rather than a complete reproduction of all 48 locations.
The reported deficiencies include inadequate lighting, faded lane markings, unclear pedestrian crossings, potholes and missing safety equipment. The letter attributed to traffic DCP Hitesh Yadav asks agencies to address those gaps before fog makes them harder for road users to detect. Haryana Police's official Gurugram directory, updated on October 21, identifies Yadav as the district's traffic DCP.
One particular concern is the Gurugram-Sohna highway service road between Subhash Chowk and Bhondsi. Reports describe encroachment on both sides, especially near Badshahpur, with roadside stalls and stopped traffic reducing the space available for through movement. The requested response includes clearing obstructions, construction material and debris.
What police want agencies to repair
According to the reported letter, missing or worn reflective markings should be restored. Police also sought thermoplastic paint on roadside and divider tiles, warning and direction boards, delineators and other visibility aids. Sharp bends require particular attention because motorists have less opportunity to see the road ahead in poor visibility.
The same requests cover lighting at major junctions, underpasses and other sensitive locations. Reflective tape was sought for trees and electricity poles standing in or alongside road space. Potholes on the main roads, service roads and their connections were to be repaired, with agencies asked to inform traffic police once deficiencies were corrected.
- Reported survey total: 48 locations.
- Main corridors: Delhi-Jaipur and Gurugram-Sohna highways.
- Agencies addressed: NHAI, GMDA and the municipal corporation.
- Priorities: visibility, road surface repairs and removal of obstructions.
Repairs requested, completion still to be confirmed
Reports also describe a request for diversion signs and visibility equipment around flyover construction on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. NHAI project officer Yogesh Tilak said the deficiencies identified by traffic police would be addressed. GMDA town planning official RS Bath said an encroachment removal drive on Gurugram-Sohna Road would follow.
The reporting does not establish a common completion date, a locationwise work schedule or that all repairs have already been carried out. It also does not announce a new road closure or diversion timetable. Drivers should therefore distinguish this repair request from a route advisory with specific operating hours.
Related coverage explains the separate plan for lighting on 19 roads, sector road repair tenders and proposed utility and traffic works for the Metro. Those projects have their own scope and do not confirm completion of the survey's requested repairs.
