NEW DELHI: Canon India's EOS R5 Mark II body page lists an MRP of Rs 4,05,995, inclusive of taxes. That figure is for the camera body. The model combines a 45MP full-frame stacked sensor with high-resolution video and advanced subject tracking, making the lens and recording setup a substantial part of the complete system.

What the body price represents
The R5 Mark II uses DIGIC Accelerator alongside DIGIC X processing. Canon's product page describes Canon Log 2 and Log 3 recording, Eye Control AF and Action Priority. These features explain the camera's emphasis on stills and video production, but each answers a different production need.
For an Indian wedding studio, the meaningful distinction is between making a photograph for a large album spread and recording footage for an edited film. The R5 Mark II brings both jobs into the same body. The assignment still needs a decision about which output takes priority at a particular moment, who operates the camera and which lenses cover the scene.
Its official specifications list Large still images at 8192 x 5464 pixels and support for JPEG, HEIF, RAW and C-RAW. Those choices create different delivery paths. A studio preparing an immediate selection for a client and a photographer retaining material for later processing need to settle that path before the event begins.
Fast shooting comes with specific modes
Canon's global model history attributes the improved tracking to Accelerated Capture and deep-learning processing. It describes Action Priority for football, basketball and volleyball, with qualifications when people are distant, hidden or clustered. That supported-sport list is particularly relevant in India: it does not establish a dedicated cricket action mode.
A sports photographer can still judge the camera's broader autofocus functions for the assignment, but the named feature should be described accurately. Recognising selected actions in supported sports is a more specific claim than automatically understanding every sporting event. Similarly, the advertised electronic burst rate belongs to that shutter mode and its operating conditions.
The camera also supports pre-continuous capture of up to 15 images. Canon's documentation places restrictions on that function, including flash photography and certain other shooting operations. For unpredictable action, the appeal is retaining an earlier moment, but it remains a feature to configure around the job rather than a universal setting.
The recording system needs its own plan
The official reference specifications identify a CFexpress Type B slot and a separate SD slot compatible with UHS-II. A camera with different card interfaces needs a deliberate media plan. The useful question for a production team is which recording configuration serves the required format and handover, rather than simply how many slots are present.
Canon's design account also explains less conspicuous changes: the power switch moves to the right shoulder, the multi-controller is reshaped and the body accommodates an air intake for the optional cooling system. A tally lamp indicates video recording status to people in front of the camera as well as the operator.
Those changes matter in a mixed stills-and-video assignment because camera status has to be clear to more than the person holding it. A presenter waiting for a cue, an assistant managing sound and a photographer switching between tasks need an unambiguous indication of what the body is doing.
