What the price steps actually change

The model suffix is important when comparing quotations, since the shared PIXMA name covers printers with substantially different capabilities.

This table covers the named small-ink-bottle trio, rather than the entire PIXMA catalogue. Each model has a separate Indian product listing. These are Canon's maximum retail prices, so they should not be read as a quotation from a local shop or a temporary checkout offer.

The G1730 is the straightforward print-only member. Canon lists the same headline A4 ISO speeds across this trio: up to 11 images per minute in monochrome and 6 in colour. Moving up the range therefore does not, on those published figures, buy a faster document-printing engine.

Its USB connection also defines the desk arrangement. The G1730's role is producing documents from a connected computer, without a built-in scan-and-copy workflow. That distinction matters when the routine includes turning a paper form into a digital file, rather than simply sending an existing file to paper.

G2730 adds a flatbed

The G2730 brings print, scan and copy functions into the same machine while retaining USB 2.0. Canon specifies a flatbed scanner with optical resolution of 600 x 1,200 dpi. Its maximum scanning area accommodates A4 and Letter documents, making the scanner a concrete feature difference rather than a vague upgrade label.

A flatbed is useful for individual sheets placed on the glass. It is a different workflow from a feeder that moves a stack of originals through automatically. The G2730's specification describes a flatbed; the price table should therefore not be interpreted as including automated batch scanning.

Canon lists a rear tray holding up to 100 sheets of specified plain paper. It also lists borderless printing on supported sizes including A4. Paper type and size still matter: support for a format does not mean every sheet sold in that size will be suitable for the printer.

G3730 changes how devices connect

The G3730 keeps the multifunction approach and adds Wi-Fi, AirPrint, Mopria and Direct Wireless. Canon also describes mobile printing through its printing and photo-editing apps. This is the model in the table whose headline feature set explicitly addresses printing from phones and shared wireless devices.

That changes the practical setup for a household where school files, photographs and office documents arrive on different screens. The distinction is access to the printer, rather than a higher published ISO document speed. Wireless printing and scanning resolution are separate specifications, and neither should be used as shorthand for the other.

Ink and maintenance need their own comparison

Canon lists both GI-71 standard bottles and GI-71S small bottles for these models. The G1730 page identifies small bottles in the box. The availability of different refill sizes is relevant to cash outlay at refill time, but it does not establish a universal running cost for every household.

The official pages also describe keyed bottle nozzles and a replaceable maintenance cartridge. Canon cautions that page yield varies with content coverage, settings, environment and printing frequency. A laboratory yield is therefore a reference point, not a promise that every refill will produce the same number of school worksheets or photographs.

For the wider desk setup, our Apple accessories price list covers input-device options, while the Samsung monitor price list covers displays. Canon owners can separately read our printer shutdown notice guide; that notice should not be assumed to apply to this PIXMA trio.
