NEW DELHI: JBL lists the Boombox 4 in its Squad finish at Rs 44,999 on its official India website, inclusive of taxes. The page also shows an MRP of Rs 54,999. This is the listed product price before any separately advertised payment incentive, and the model's headline battery claim needs a qualification: 34 hours includes Playtime Boost.

Read the battery claim in two parts
JBL's specification sheet separates ordinary playback of up to 28 hours from the extra duration available through Playtime Boost. It says volume and audio content affect the result. The larger figure therefore describes a particular operating choice, rather than an assured runtime for every playlist at every loudness setting.
That distinction is useful for a gathering where the speaker will be used away from a socket. Planning around a full day of music and planning around the loudest part of an evening are different tasks. The relevant question is which listening mode will actually be used, rather than whether the largest battery number appears on the product page.
The sheet specifies a 99.02Wh rechargeable lithium-ion pack and a three-hour charging time. It lists AC-in and USB-C connections, plus an AC power cable in the box. A replacement battery is sold separately, according to JBL. The replacement feature should therefore be understood as a serviceability option, rather than an included spare for extending a session.
Portable still means a substantial speaker
The official sheet gives dimensions of 506.4 x 262.9 x 212.9mm and a net weight of 5.89kg. This places a practical question ahead of any listening comparison: where will it sit, and who will carry it between the vehicle, room or outdoor space?
JBL's international announcement describes the Boombox 4 as lighter than the Boombox 3 and highlights a redesigned acoustic construction. It also describes USB-C lossless playback and Auracast connections. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the design and features, rather than findings from an independent listening test.
For an Indian home where the same speaker moves between a living room and a terrace, that combination points to a self-contained music system. The carry requirement remains part of the setup, however. A handle and battery remove some installation work without making the physical size irrelevant.
The published price covers the speaker listing itself. It should be kept separate from any optional replacement battery or additional speaker used for pairing.
Connections and bass controls
JBL offers Deep Bass and Punchy Bass settings. Its announcement describes orange or white illumination of the horn logos when Bass Boost is active. Auracast supports stereo pairing and links to compatible JBL speakers, while USB-C lossless listening requires compatible source content and supported apps or services.
For someone who already owns another wireless speaker, compatibility deserves attention before planning a combined setup. A familiar logo alone does not establish which connection system a particular speaker supports. Likewise, connecting a cable is only part of a lossless playback chain; the music source remains part of that feature's requirements.
Our JBL launches PartyBox 720, 330 and 130 in India with AI karaoke mics, prices from Rs 39,999 covers a different portable format. The Sony ULT TOWER vs JBL PartyBox: which party speaker to buy this Diwali addresses a soundbar package, while the JBL Charge 6 vs Flip 7 price: Flip 7 starts lower at Rs 9,999 provides more context on portable speakers. These are separate categories and models, so their specifications should not be transferred to the Boombox.
