Battery claims need the mode attached
The most useful distinction in the battery section is between ordinary playback and Playtime Boost. JBL describes the longer figures as requiring that additional mode. A reader comparing the largest number on one speaker with the standard number on another would be comparing different operating claims.
For a gathering on a terrace or an afternoon away from a socket, that distinction is more useful than a general promise of all-day playback. The figures above are JBL's claims, not a result from our own battery test. They establish the company's stated endurance for each mode without predicting a particular user's listening session.
The Charge 6 also has a built-in powerbank function for a mobile device. JBL explicitly excludes laptop charging from that claim. The distinction matters because a USB-C connector can serve several purposes, and its presence alone does not establish what equipment the speaker can power.
Carrying hardware changes how the speakers travel
The Flip 7 uses JBL's PushLock system, with an interchangeable loop and carabiner described on the product page. Charge 6 uses a removable handle strap. These are different approaches to carrying a speaker: attaching it to something and lifting it by a handle are not quite the same everyday action.
That is relevant to how a speaker fits into an existing routine. Someone carrying shopping, a laptop bag or a picnic basket may handle the same object differently from someone putting it on a shelf. The accessory design provides a concrete point of comparison without requiring a claim that either speaker is universally more convenient.
Both products carry an IP68 rating. JBL ties its water-resistance statement to laboratory immersion in freshwater at up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. The specified conditions belong with the rating. They describe the test rather than granting an unlimited promise about every spill, swimming pool or outdoor situation.
Auracast grouping and stereo are separate details
JBL describes stereo pairing between matching speakers: a Flip 7 with another Flip 7, or a Charge 6 with another Charge 6. It separately describes connecting multiple compatible JBL Auracast speakers. The broader grouping claim should not be rewritten as a promise that any mixed pair automatically becomes a conventional left-and-right stereo set.
The distinction is easy to miss when friends bring different speakers to the same gathering. Brand name alone is not the compatibility condition stated on these pages. The relevant feature is Auracast support, and the documentation distinguishes that group connection from its matching-model stereo examples.
Both models also advertise lossless playback over USB-C with a compatible source and suitable content. This is a wired playback claim, not a statement that ordinary Bluetooth streaming becomes lossless. The Charge 6 page additionally points to a software update through the JBL Portable app for the feature.
What the higher listed price adds
For Charge 6, the clearly documented differences include longer stated battery endurance, a handle strap and mobile-device charging. Flip 7 keeps the lower displayed price while retaining the shared water-resistance rating and Auracast feature. Those facts are more informative than assuming that a higher price guarantees better sound in every room.
