NEW DELHI: BMW Motorrad India's M 1000 R price list runs from Rs 33,50,000 for Standard to Rs 40,00,000 for the entry labelled M Competition Package. Both are ex-showroom figures in the official retail list effective August 1, 2026. The package-equipped entry costs Rs 6,50,000 more, with the distinction centred on equipment and materials rather than a separately advertised engine output.
| Official price-list entry | Ex-showroom price |
|---|---|
| M 1000 R Standard | Rs 33,50,000 |
| M 1000 R M Competition Package | Rs 40,00,000 |
Price as of November 5, 2026, 23:50 IST. BMW says the invoicing price applies and prices can change. Its published figures include applicable GST but exclude registration-related charges, road tax, insurance and the other levies identified in the price-list footnote.
The package entry is a complete motorcycle price
The important reading of the table is that Rs 40,00,000 is the listed motorcycle configuration price. It should not be added to the Standard price as though it were the standalone accessory bill. The Rs 6,50,000 difference is calculated directly from the two published entries. BMW does not provide a separate price for each carbon component in that table.
That makes this a particularly equipment-sensitive price list. Someone comparing screenshots should keep the model name, package label and price together. A photograph showing carbon wheels does not establish that those wheels are included with the less expensive entry, even when the paint scheme looks similar.
What M Competition adds
BMW's India launch material identifies M Carbon wheels, carbon body components, GPS Laptrigger equipment and adjustable rider footrests among the Competition package content. It also includes pillion equipment. These are concrete changes to the motorcycle's configuration, with a stronger focus on track use, component finish and adjustability.
The distinction matters because the Standard motorcycle already has serious equipment. The technical page lists forged wheels, Dynamic Damping Control, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips and cruise control. Carbon wheels therefore replace an existing wheel specification. They do not turn a basic roadster without performance hardware into an M model.
Colour and package combinations also deserve attention. BMW identifies Light White/M Motorsport and White Aluminium metallic matt in its model material, with Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport associated with the Competition configuration. The price table does not publish a separate charge for every paint and package permutation, so this list does not assign one.
A high-revving engine shapes its purpose
The India launch release specifies a 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine with BMW ShiftCam. It quotes 210 hp at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm at 11,100 rpm. Those high engine speeds are central to the M 1000 R's character: its headline performance belongs to a very different use case from relaxed, low-speed commuting.
For an Indian owner, the meaningful comparison is therefore broader than displacement. A naked layout and tubular handlebar do not erase the demands of a high-performance engine. Throttle response, riding position and the space available to use the motorcycle all matter when interpreting what the premium actually delivers.
The equipment page's Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro settings give this performance a configurable electronic framework. They are separate from the carbon parts that draw attention in photographs. Understanding which controls are fitted and how they are operated is more useful than assuming the dearer package is required for every electronic function.
The quick-action throttle is another model-specific detail. BMW says it reduces the rotation needed to reach full throttle. That changes the relationship between wrist movement and engine response, making familiarity with the controls particularly relevant. It is a functional change alongside the revised traction-control strategy, rather than simply a visual update to the headlight and paintwork.
Read the specifications with their qualifiers
BMW advertises a 194 kg figure on the model page with a qualification covering the M package and M titanium exhaust system. It would be misleading to attach that number to every showroom configuration without the qualification. Likewise, the optional exhaust equipment shown on the site should not automatically be counted in the Standard price.
The practical context is a roadster with a large gap between road equipment and specialist track equipment. Cruise control and heated grips address ordinary journeys; lap timing and adjustable footrests serve a different purpose. The package premium brings those priorities into the same purchase, rather than providing a simple hierarchy of everyday comfort.
