The useful distinction is in chassis equipment. Both versions carry the same published power and torque figures. Paying for the S therefore needs to make sense through its suspension, wheels and battery, rather than an expectation of a higher engine output.

What the two prices cover

Ducati identifies the S upgrades as electronically controlled Ohlins SmartEC3.0 suspension, forged aluminium wheels and a lithium battery. Its published weight is also lower. Those are tangible differences for a rider working on feedback, direction changes and consistency during circuit sessions.

The table covers the V4 and V4 S shown together on this page. The separately listed V4 R is outside this two-version comparison. A similar name does not make it another colour option, and folding it into the table would obscure the choice being explained here.

The company uses starting-price language. Treat the figures as the model entry points before a chosen configuration is costed. The page does not establish a single all-inclusive amount for every registration location, insurance selection or accessory combination.

Why the chassis changes matter

Ducati describes a revised Front Frame and Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, alongside changes to the tank, seat area and footpeg contact points. Taken together, the development emphasis is on the rider controlling the motorcycle through braking, cornering and acceleration.

That focus gives the Indian ownership question a practical shape. A circuit rider may spend time adjusting the motorcycle and learning what those settings change. Someone mainly making short urban journeys may have far fewer opportunities to explore that equipment. Neither use can be judged from the headline power figure alone.

Forged wheels and electronic suspension should also be considered as parts of a system. A more expensive component does not remove the need to establish an appropriate setup. Rider familiarity, tyre condition and how the motorcycle is used remain relevant to interpreting any difference felt on a ride.

Who it is for

The standard V4 is aimed at an experienced sportbike rider seeking the core Panigale platform. The S is more closely aligned with someone who specifically wants its electronic suspension and wheel package. This is a description of the equipment fit, rather than a claim that one version will automatically make every rider quicker.

A meaningful demonstration should concentrate on riding position and control access as well as acceleration. The revised contact points are central to Ducati's explanation of this generation. Reach to the bars, room to move and confidence operating the controls deserve attention before choosing a version.

For an Indian rider planning occasional circuit days, the ownership budget should also leave room for training and the actual riding programme. The purchase price alone cannot explain how often the motorcycle will be used in the environment around which its development is framed.

Read the specification on its own terms

The weight label in the table is wet weight without fuel. It should not be silently compared with a rival's dry weight or fully fuelled kerb figure. Those measures describe different conditions, and a small numerical gap becomes misleading when their definitions are dropped.

The same care applies to the price boundary. The V4 and S have a clear equipment split, while optional personalisation can move an individual specification away from its entry figure. Keeping the version, standard equipment and selected additions on separate lines makes that distinction easier to understand.

This is a current official listing check, not a fresh launch announcement or a road test. Ducati's specification establishes what is advertised. It does not establish delivery timing for an individual motorcycle or independently measured performance on Indian roads.
