NEW DELHI: Existing Mahindra BE 6 owners are scheduled to receive eligible SPORTEQ software features in phases from January 2027. That is the timetable in Mahindra's official announcement, with availability dependent on model and variant. Owners can meanwhile use the vehicle's online update process when an update notification actually appears.

Separate the announcement from the notification

The announcement is useful for an owner wondering whether the newer BE 6 series leaves an earlier car behind. It establishes a future software path. It does not identify the day an individual vehicle will receive its package, nor does it provide a complete entitlement list for every existing trim.

There is a particularly important distinction for this model. SPORTEQ introduces a different cockpit arrangement on parts of the range, while the original BE 6 has its own physical screen layout. An announcement about software should not be read as a promise to replace dashboard hardware. Ask about the feature itself and the equipment it needs, rather than treating the newer model's entire cabin as an update checklist.

Mahindra's release groups its newer experiences into six TEQ suites. Their coverage spans conversation, entertainment, driving functions, personalisation and security. The useful question for an existing owner is which functions will be enabled on that particular car. The release's model and variant qualification matters more than the breadth of the launch presentation.

Use the car's own update route

The BE 6 manual describes internet access as necessary for an online update. Download and installation are separate stages: the car downloads the package and displays a notification when it is ready. For the owner, that notification is the practical starting point. Keep the instructions displayed by the vehicle in view before accepting the installation.

Choose a parking opportunity when the car can remain stationary without interrupting an essential journey. Read the message before proceeding and make a note of any release information shown. This is a useful household handover task if several people share the BE 6: everyone should know that the car is being updated and should be left alone until completion.

For installation, the manual requires the vehicle to be stopped safely, with the high-voltage battery not charging and the connector removed. Open the update notification and follow the system prompts. Do not switch on the ignition during installation. Completion is indicated by a further notification; an unsuccessful-update message calls for help from an authorised Mahindra service centre.

For a shared family car, keep the charging booking and update installation as separate tasks in the household plan. The connector requirement makes this especially relevant to a BE 6 parked overnight at a wallbox. Finish the charging task before starting an installation, then follow whatever additional conditions appear on the vehicle display.

Keep a record of the result

As a practical record, save the displayed update name or version and the outcome. If a feature expected from the release is missing afterwards, that record makes the discussion more specific. Ask whether the issue concerns rollout timing, trim eligibility, a subscription or installation status. Those are different questions and may need different answers.

A demonstration of the newly enabled function is also more useful than assuming its behaviour from a launch video. Review the relevant vehicle instructions before using a changed driving or assistance setting. Software can alter a menu or introduce an option, but the owner still needs to understand what has actually become available in the car.
