NEW DELHI: S-Presso owners with Maruti Suzuki's Smart Maintenance Plan can cancel an active package, but the company's published rule deducts 10% from the unused balance. The cancellation provision ends when the package expires, so check the certificate before asking the dealer for a refund calculation.

| Cancellation window | During active coverage |
| Deduction | 10% of the remaining amount |
| After expiry | Cancellation unavailable |

Find the plan before calculating the refund
Start with the document that names the product you bought. A service package, extended warranty and an accessory invoice answer different questions. Find the SMP certificate, the payment receipt and the service invoices already raised against it. Keep copies together so the unused amount can be discussed against a record, rather than a remembered showroom conversation.
Maruti's SMP FAQ says coverage begins at enrolment and runs to the duration or mileage limit recorded in the certificate, whichever arrives first. It covers scheduled maintenance; warranty addresses eligible failures. That distinction matters when an owner expects the package to pay for an unexpected repair or assumes that a car still under warranty has no routine service costs.
Ask the enrolling dealer for an itemised statement of the remaining balance and the cancellation deduction. The published percentage applies to what remains, rather than automatically to the original purchase amount. Do not use the original invoice alone to estimate a refund after services have already been consumed.
Match the paperwork to your S-Presso
The S-Presso product page identifies a 998 cc engine and manual or AGS transmission choices. Its K10C engine description and petrol idle stop-start feature give owners useful identifiers when reviewing a service estimate. Write the fuel type and transmission on your request, alongside the registration and certificate details, to reduce the chance of discussing a different version's maintenance requirements.
This is particularly relevant to an S-Presso household using the car mainly for short local journeys. A low odometer reading can make a prepaid package look almost untouched, but the certificate also has a calendar limit. Check both before deciding that there is plenty of time to deal with the unused services. This is a paperwork check, not a reason to delay prescribed maintenance.
The model page also lists a 239-litre boot and SmartPlay Studio among its features, with equipment varying by variant. Neither tells you what a maintenance contract includes. Keep optional equipment, repair work and scheduled service entries separate when reading the account statement; the package certificate should be the reference for the services actually purchased.
Keep a separate note of the next service due under the owner booklet. Closing a payment package should leave you with a clear plan for arranging subsequent visits and keeping their invoices, particularly if a warranty claim later needs the maintenance history.
Request a clear settlement
For the cancellation request, explain that you want the active SMP closed and ask for the proposed settlement in writing. Keep the date of the request and the dealer's acknowledgement. These are practical record-keeping steps, rather than an additional cancellation procedure imposed by the published FAQ.
Before agreeing to the figure, check whether all recent service visits have been accounted for and whether the balance belongs to the correct certificate. If an entry is unclear, ask for its invoice reference. A clean calculation should let you follow the amount from the recorded unused balance through the deduction to the proposed refund.
The public FAQ does not give a universal rupee price for an S-Presso package or a fixed refund completion time. Those figures are therefore not stated here. Ask the dealer to identify the expected payment route and completion date in the acknowledgement, and retain the original documents until the settlement is complete.
