NEW DELHI: The Porsche Panamera starts at Rs 1,79,12,000 on the brand's India website, below the Taycan 4S at Rs 2,00,70,000. These are starting prices, labelled inclusive of VAT by Porsche, rather than configured on-road quotations. Price as of 28 October 2026, 00:12 IST. The petrol Panamera and electric Taycan also require very different ownership routines.

Read the Taycan qualification before comparing performance
Porsche's Taycan India pages explicitly say the specifications shown are European and market-specific values will be confirmed after homologation. The acceleration and output figures above therefore describe the published reference specification. They should not be presented as a fresh certification of the Indian car.
There is another distinction within that table: the Taycan number is temporary overboost output under Launch Control conditions. It is not a directly equivalent description to the Panamera's engine power rating. The figures establish what Porsche advertises, but cannot replace a like-for-like road assessment.
The petrol car retains a conventional sports saloon layout
The Panamera uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 developing 500 Nm, connected to an eight-speed PDK transmission. The entry model sends power to the rear wheels. Porsche lists a top speed of 272 km/h, although that is a performance specification, not a meaningful target for Indian public-road use.
Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management and Matrix LED headlights are listed as standard. Rear-axle steering is optional. Buyers should also distinguish the ordinary air-suspension system from Porsche Active Ride, which the broader Panamera page associates with E-Hybrid variants.
The distinction matters because the page illustrates several versions from the wider family. A photograph of a hybrid model does not turn its equipment into standard kit on the India-listed petrol Panamera. Rear-seat ventilation and massage are described as available on request, so a chauffeur-focused configuration needs its own itemised equipment check.
The electric car changes both delivery and refuelling
The Taycan 4S has electric motors at the front and rear. Its published drivetrain uses a single-speed front gearbox and a two-speed rear gearbox, with up to 710 Nm under Launch Control. That is a different mechanical approach from the Panamera's engine and PDK combination, even though both carry Porsche's sports saloon positioning.
Porsche describes an 800-volt electrical architecture and charging power of up to 320 kW with the optional Performance Battery Plus. The battery qualification is essential: that peak cannot simply be attached to every Taycan quotation. Nor does a car's charging capability establish what a particular charger can supply.
The Taycan page also describes adaptive air suspension and a Smart Lift function that can remember locations where the body has been raised. For a buyer with a difficult driveway, that feature is more relevant to investigate than the headline launch time. Its suitability still depends on the actual approach and the specified car.
The useful comparison starts with the daily route
A household choosing between these Porsches is comparing more than fuel types. Reliable charging at the place the car regularly parks changes how the Taycan fits into the week. If that access is uncertain, mapping realistic charging stops is part of evaluating the car, rather than an assumption to make after delivery.
For the Panamera, the corresponding questions concern how the rear seats will be used and which comfort options matter. A driver-focused specification and a car used mainly with a chauffeur can produce different equipment priorities without changing the badge. Neither starting price settles that configuration exercise.
