GURUGRAM: The district administration announced on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, that applications for Haryana's state level women's awards would be accepted until November 16, extending the earlier November 5 timetable, as reported earlier on this earlier report. Eligible applicants across Gurugram, including Sector 14, are covered by the district announcement.

There is a discrepancy applicants should check before relying on the extra time. The public Gaurav application portal, read for this report, still displayed November 5 against several individual award categories. The district's newer release explicitly says November 16, but the older date remained visible on the application service.

What the district has announced

The official release, published at 6.54 pm IST on November 3, attributes the extension to information given by Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh. It directs applicants to the Women and Child Development Department's Gaurav portal for the 2026-27 awards and asks residents to inform eligible women about the revised date.

The release identifies four principal awards and their cash components: Rs 5 lakh for the Smt. Sushma Swaraj Award, Rs 1.50 lakh for the Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award, and Rs 1 lakh each for the Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award and Bahin Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award. Certificates accompany those awards; the Sushma Swaraj award also includes a shawl.

Selected recipients in government employee, social worker and woman entrepreneur categories are to receive Rs 21,000, a certificate and a shawl, according to the district account. These are award amounts for selected recipients. They are not payments promised to everyone who submits an application.

  • New date in the district release: November 16, 2026.
  • Date still visible for several individual awards on the portal: November 5, 2026.
  • Application service: the department's public Gaurav portal.
  • Local clarification point named in the release: the District Programme Officer, Women and Child Development.

Choose the award that matches the work

The department's award description distinguishes the categories by the work being recognised. The Sushma Swaraj award covers significant contributions or achievements at national and international levels. The Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti category concerns exemplary work supporting and rehabilitating women and children.

The Kalpana Chawla category recognises bravery and meritorious service. The Bahin Shanno Devi category concerns women representatives of panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies who have undertaken exemplary work for women's empowerment. Applicants should read the category requirements rather than assume that the highest cash award is the suitable one.

The district says applications will first be examined by a district recommendation committee. Recommended eligible cases then undergo the necessary verification, including police verification, before being sent to headquarters within the prescribed period. The release announces an application extension, not a list of winners or a date for presenting the awards.

The department also describes a Lifetime Achievers category for women aged 60 and above who have excelled in fields such as administration, leadership, a profession, courage or creative work. Its scheme page lists Rs 51,000 for that category. Applicants can compare that description with their own record before choosing a category.

Check the portal before leaving it late

On the Gaurav portal, November 5 remained visible for the Sushma Swaraj, Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti, Kalpna Chawla Shaurya, Bahin Shanno Devi and Lifetime Achievers awards. A separate institutional award, Mahila Samarth Sansthan, showed November 20. That separate timetable should not be treated as the individual award deadline.

Applicants who encounter the date mismatch can seek clarification from the district programme office identified in the release. The announcement gives no closing hour on November 16 and does not explain when the portal will reflect the extension. Other district service developments are covered in the reports on the revised voter hearing timetable and November unemployment allowance applications.

An earlier official state release from Sirsa, posted at 4.08 pm on November 3, still gave November 5 as the application deadline. That release also specifies online applications and says submissions sent by post, courier or another offline method will not be accepted.

The Sirsa release places presentation of the 2026-27 awards on March 8, International Women's Day. Its publication preceded Gurugram's 6.54 pm announcement on the same date.

The department's scheme table further names auxiliary nurse midwives, nurses, multipurpose workers, sportswomen, Sakshar Mahila Samooh members and anganwadi workers among the Women Outstanding Achievers categories. It ties that recognition to commendable work during the calendar year. The department identifies Bahin Shanno Devi, after whom the Panchayati Raj award is named, as Haryana's first woman Speaker.

The department identifies the Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award as named after India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
