VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh Tourism included Varanasi's ghats and Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in its international tourism presentation announced on Monday, November 2, 2026, for World Travel Market London. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, November 3, to Thursday, November 5, at Excel London, with the state directing trade visitors to pavilion N11-500.
For the city's tour operators, guides and craft businesses, the relevant part of the announcement is its emphasis on meetings with international travel buyers and developing travel products. Around Bada Lalpur, where Deendayal Hastkala Sankul presents local weaving and handicrafts, that emphasis connects destination promotion with the products and skills visitors can encounter in Varanasi.
Businesses following the showcase should check the official organiser's programme and distinguish the announced meetings from completed agreements. The statement describes an effort to create commercial relationships; it does not report a new Varanasi contract, a city visitor target or additional income already earned by local businesses.
What the London presentation includes
The November 2 announcement identifies spiritual destinations, heritage, festivals, crafts, food, wildlife and wellness among the subjects being presented. Varanasi appears alongside Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Mathura Vrindavan in the spiritual tourism component. Dev Deepawali is among the cultural celebrations named in the wider state presentation.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh linked the participation to reaching international travellers and tourism partners. Additional Chief Secretary Amrit Abhijat described the exhibition as part of the state's approach to strengthening its presence in overseas markets. Those are the department's objectives for the programme, rather than results that can yet be measured in Varanasi.
The statement also identifies tour operators, travel agents and destination management companies as intended business contacts. Uttar Pradesh tour operators, hoteliers and other travel service providers are included in the planned commercial engagement. No separate roster of participating Varanasi firms is supplied in that announcement.

Where local crafts fit into the tourism offer
Varanasi has an existing place to explain the relationship between tourism and making things. The district administration's description of Deendayal Hastkala Sankul locates the centre at Bada Lalpur, Chandmari, and identifies direct connections between artisans, weavers, entrepreneurs and buyers as one of its purposes.
Its museum presents textiles together with information about the weaving process, materials, tools and techniques. Separate displays cover carpets, durries and handicrafts. This gives local itinerary planners a concrete craft destination to consider when interpreting the state's broader promise to promote experiences beyond individual monuments. The museum is existing infrastructure, with no new opening announced through the London programme.
The district's official geographical indications directory lists Banaras brocades and sarees, Gulabi Meenakari, soft stone jali work, wooden lacquerware and toys, metal repousse and glass beads. These listings establish the range of local craft traditions; the London announcement does not say that each listed product has its own exhibition stall.
The museum description also identifies a gallery of geographical indication products from across India and an audio guide facility. Visitors can therefore examine local work alongside other regional traditions. That existing educational role is relevant to craft itineraries, independently of whether the London meetings eventually produce a new tour package.
What local businesses and residents should watch
The next useful evidence will be specific partnerships or travel products arising from the meetings. Operators considering changes to an itinerary should verify the individual attraction's arrangements separately. An overseas tourism presentation does not itself change temple booking rules, local transport schedules or access to a craft facility.
Facilities and dates at the Bada Lalpur centre
The district's project brief records 7.93 acres of land, 43,450 square metres of built-up area and a project cost of Rs 300 crore for Deendayal Hastkala Sankul. Its foundation stone was laid on November 7, 2014; the first phase opened on December 22, 2016, and the full dedication took place on September 22, 2017.
The complex has 50 marts over the ground floor and three upper floors. Its convention hall seats approximately 1,000 people and its atrium approximately 500. Blocks C and D house NIFT Varanasi, according to the same official brief.
