GURUGRAM: Women seeking Haryana's state-level achievement awards can apply until 5 November, the district administration said on 13 October. Employers using the same online portal face an earlier deadline: applications for the Mahila Samarth Sansthan Award, which recognises women-friendly workplaces, close on 15 October. The two application windows cover different applicants and should be checked separately.

The Women and Child Development Department's Gaurav portal lists both award programmes as active. The workplace-award extension was published on 28 September; the individual-award nomination page is dated 8 October. Neither date should be read as an announcement that an applicant has been shortlisted. The portal gives closing dates but does not display a closing hour on its public home page.

Individual awards: categories and supporting records

The department's current award list gives the Smt. Sushma Swaraj Award a cash component of Rs 5 lakh, with a citation and shawl. The Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award carries Rs 1.5 lakh and a citation. The Kalpna Chawla Shaurya Award and Bahin Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award each carry Rs 1 lakh and a citation. These are award amounts, rather than payments available to every eligible applicant.

The categories recognise different kinds of achievement. The department describes the Indira Gandhi award as recognising women whose dedicated work has made them role models, the Kalpna Chawla award as recognising bravery, and the Bahin Shanno Devi award as encouraging women's public leadership. Its overview also lists 10 Women Outstanding Achievers awards, each carrying Rs 21,000, a citation and a shawl.

The detailed notification adds a Lifetime Achievement Award for women aged 60 or above, carrying Rs 51,000, a citation and a shawl. Within the outstanding-achievers group, it provides four awards for government employees, four for social workers and two for women entrepreneurs. The eligibility rules differ: government employees need work beyond normal duties and a department-head recommendation; social workers need five years of welfare work. The entrepreneurship category requires an Industry Department recommendation.

Nominees must hold a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra and provide clear, documented achievements. The notification requires a signed affidavit declaring that no adverse matter is pending against the nominee, and says the same award cannot be received more than once. Applications are reviewed through the prescribed process; completing an online form does not guarantee selection. Applicants should use the full notification to check their category before assembling supporting records.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh's district announcement says applications will be examined by the district-level recommending committee. Recommended cases will undergo the required verification, including police verification, before being sent to headquarters. It directs people seeking further information to the district programme officer of the Women and Child Development Department. The release does not name award recipients or promise a selection date.

Workplace awards: the October 15 deadline

The Mahila Samarth Sansthan scheme covers institutions operating in Haryana. The five categories cover government institutions, large private or industrial establishments, MSMEs and small enterprises, educational institutions, and social-sector bodies. Each group has five awards: Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1 lakh for the first three places, plus two consolation awards of Rs 50,000 each.

Institutions are assessed on a 100-point framework. It covers facilities, women's participation in the workforce, work-life policies, prevention-of-sexual-harassment compliance, workplace safety, career development, gender sensitisation and reporting. The framework assigns 18 points to harassment-prevention compliance. The facilities criteria include childcare and accessibility.

Assessment involves an online application, self-assessment, document checks, district field inspection and employee feedback before a final recommendation. Organisations should therefore prepare evidence of their actual workplace practices. The department's extension notice sets 15 October as the current application deadline; older annual dates printed in the original scheme notification should not replace that specific extension.

For Gurugram readers navigating other public-service procedures, Dalimss News has explained the property-tax rebate for women homeowners and the Samadhan camp complaint route. Award applications belong on the department's designated portal. The immediate deadline is 15 October for institutions; the individual award window remains open until 5 November.
