NEW DELHI: Ducati Monster owners checking prepaid servicing should read the current V2 plan table: Ducati lists 2 years or 15,000 km at Rs 30,999, and 4 years or 30,000 km at Rs 54,999. The page names the Monster among eligible ranges, but customers should confirm their particular motorcycle and contract terms before paying.

Use the quoted duration and distance to identify the intended plan, and obtain a written quotation resolving the naming difference. These figures concern servicing, separate from the motorcycle purchase price.

Identify the Monster before selecting a plan

Start with the motorcycle's model year, chassis details and recorded warranty activation date. Ducati names the Monster family on its package page, but does not supply a separate eligibility matrix for every generation. Ask for eligibility to be confirmed against the actual motorcycle, particularly when considering a package after ownership has already begun.

The distinction is meaningful here. Ducati's current India product page describes a new V2-powered Monster with Intake Variable Timing and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. A maintenance schedule remembered from an earlier Monster should not automatically be used to calculate what the current motorcycle will need during a contract.

The current product page also specifies an 815 mm seat and a 5-inch display. These are useful identity checks when matching a showroom motorcycle with online information. Our Monster price guide deals with the bike's purchase figures; the service contract concerns subsequent scheduled workshop work.

Put expected use beside both limits

Write down the sort of riding the Monster will actually do. Occasional weekend outings and regular long-distance journeys create different questions about the relevance of a time limit and a kilometre limit. Ask the dealership to show how both published boundaries apply to the proposed contract, rather than comparing only the number of years.

Ducati says activation follows the bike's warranty activation date. That makes the recorded date significant if there has been a gap between invoicing, delivery and regular riding. Ask to see it on the contract. Do not assume the period starts with the first prepaid service you happen to redeem.

Next, request the model-specific service schedule and the operations falling inside each proposed period. Dividing a package cost by an assumed number of visits can produce a misleading comparison. The public summary does not promise an identical visit count or identical job list for every motorcycle bearing the Monster name.

For a useful written estimate, separate the work expected at each visit from jobs that depend on inspection. That allows a fairer comparison with paying for scheduled work individually. It also gives you something concrete to refer to if an invoice later contains an unfamiliar line item.

Keep wear costs outside the prepaid calculation

Ducati describes genuine parts and labour for periodic maintenance at authorised workshops in India as included. It expressly excludes consumables such as brake pads, clutch plates and tyres. Keep an allowance for these outside the package amount, especially when deciding how much cash to reserve after buying the motorcycle.

At a workshop, ask the estimate to separate scheduled maintenance from worn components and investigation of a reported fault. This is a practical way to understand which items use the prepaid entitlement and which need another approval. It is also clearer than accepting a single undivided total labelled service.

Read the maintenance contract separately from defect warranty paperwork. Ducati publishes its conventional warranty information separately and refers owners to supplied service documentation for detail. A prepaid entitlement to scheduled work and a request to repair a defect serve different purposes, even when both are discussed at the same workshop counter.

Make the paperwork useful for the next owner

Ducati says Protect is transferable when a motorcycle changes owners. Retain the activation record, contract and completed service invoices together, and ask how a transfer is recorded. A clear remaining-entitlement statement is more useful than an informal promise that the next owner will inherit some servicing.

For other examples of interpreting maintenance terms, see our DesertX service explainer and XDiavel V4 warranty guide. Their servicing and warranty terms are specific to those motorcycles. Use the Monster's own contract and documentation when preparing its workshop budget.
